I have a friend who got a ticket driving 122kmh (76mph) in a 75mph zone in the Netherlands. They nailed me for 8-10 miles over many years ago. But here's the kicker, they were in the median of the desert type freeway on the 10. So they could go either side of the freeway. The kicker part, he followed me for over 10 minutes as I did the speed limit before hitting the flashing lights. I was like WTF?! you could've just pulled me over right away instead of playing the follow game making me think I was fine. So from then on i did the speed limit or nothing over 5 miles of the speed limit. |

Pulled over 2 times. On Thursday, one day before we leave, my wife pulls up in the dusk onto the driveway, and her car's headlight is out. I had to take it to the shop first thing in the morning. The guys in the shop told me the cops are very reluctant to pull people over because of the Wuhan virus these days. |

I like Albuquerque. Next stop Amarillo. There's a great Holoiday Inn Express just off of Hwy 40 No, we're going to rush it through Amarillo. Next planned stop El Reno OK, just outside OKC. If all goes well, we'll be in Columbus on Day 6.
We're stopping at Marriotts because I've got points for free stays.

If you are white you are probably fine. We never got a ticket in AZ. Pulled over 2 times. On Thursday, one day before we leave, my wife pulls up in the dusk onto the driveway, and her car's headlight is out. I had to take it to the shop first thing in the morning. The guys in the shop told me the cops are very reluctant to pull people over because of the Wuhan virus these days. Oh man. Before we left California JB got tagged two times in Los Altos with out of date registration (I guess the renewal was lost in the mail - she was like 5 months late). She gets it sorted out about 4 days before we leave, in person at the DMV. About 8 hours into our trip, it's now probably around 7pm and we are approaching Blythe CA (literally the border town). I've been starting to fly though normally will speed check myself and try to stay under about 20 over the limit. We are in the middle of the desert, it's dark and there are no other cars on the road. Get tagged by a cop. Pull over into a gas station. We are in a VW Jetta that's packed to the gills with our stuff and the 95lb dog crammed into like half of the back seat. Cop was super friendly, noticed we were leaving state and asked about that. Said his system still showed the registration was late and he mentioned the DMV can take a while to actually correct itself. Wished us luck and that was it. Good thing you took care of the light. The last thing you want is a random stop. Even if it just wastes 30 minutes it's still more aggravation than it's worth. |
