First home game after the trade I watched him play and was so blown away how he made the team better I bought his jersey. Met him a few times and he seemed like a really good guy.

Tampa will host the Super Bowl on Feb. 7 and Cooper was asked if his championship pedigree will guarantee him a seat or two for the big game at Raymond James Stadium.
“I don’t think Jon Cooper gets the Super Bowl tickets, but I think the Stanley Cup gets them,” laughed Copper. “The Stanley Cup is like walking around with Mick Jagger. It gets whatever it wants.”
-Jon Cooper, head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

man, JTs departure absolutely puts a new milestone mark in the ground for the entire franchise. Huge turnng of the page; nobody is sure what will pop out of that smoking Shark-Head next season. The pandemic and this huge gap in time for the 'next home game' also underscores a new teal era ahead. No doubt, JT uniquely added something very special into the past 15 seasons. Best hockey player in franchise history, IMO. Never can be replaced, but something different will certainly fill that void. Always does.

from Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News,
It appears the Sharks and six other teams that did not qualify for the NHL’s postseason earlier this year will be allowed to have extra time to train and practice together before the start of any main training camp.
This summer, general managers from the seven teams asked the NHL if they could get an extended training camp — possibly as long as two weeks — before the start of the 2020-21 regular season. The GMs were seeking the same chance to skate the 24 other teams got during Phase 3 of the NHL’s Return to Play before the start of the postseason.
In an email to this newspaper, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly wrote the league and the NHL Players’ Association have a general agreement on the structure of extra pre-camp workouts for those seven teams, but have not yet finalized any details.

While Kenny Albert is a strong candidate to replace Mike (Doc) Emrick on NBC’s coverage of the Stanley Cup Finals, a name that cannot be ruled out is Mike Tirico.
Albert, 52, could very well be the next man up, as he is NBC’s No. 2 NHL play-by-play man, having done conference finals and the Olympics for years. But Tirico, the face of NBC Sports, figures to be in the discussion when its network executives decide what to do next.
Tirico is a hockey guy and has called a few games for the network over the past few years.
Tirico, 53, is the host of the Olympics, NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” studio show, the Triple Crown and the network’s golf events. He also calls Notre Dame football. He is scheduled to replace Al Michaels full-time on “Sunday Night Football” broadcasts after the 2022 Super Bowl.
The issue in the short term that could arise is the uncertainty of the pandemic on the schedule. The Olympics are scheduled for late July.
While NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said that the hope is for the season to begin after the new year, it is unclear yet when the Cup would take place. The schedule could eliminate Tirico from consideration. NBC and Tirico may also decide his plate is too full.
Along with Albert, NBC also may look at John Forslund and young, up-and-comer Brendan Burke to succeed the legendary Emrick.
The situation is also complicated by the fact NBC only owns the rights to the Cup for next year. It is in talks to renew and could continue to broadcast it for a long time, but the NHL is speaking with others with ESPN/ABC, Fox, among the possibilities.
The seemingly always-traveling Albert also does Fox NFL football, is the radio voice of the Rangers and fills in on Knicks TV games. The Fox NFL deal has two years left. While Fox is expected to renew, negotiations have not been completed.
Albert has a strong candidacy for the job, but it is no sure thing just yet.

If you're DW, (no offense to anyone here), who do you sign with the remaining cap space? A forward? Defenseman? Fire yourself and disappear?
I think a Right shot Defenseman and then see what happens...? Or just let it all unravel and hope for a high pick.

And the guys who got some edge and can skate. But I think they’re set going forward though with the core five and Merkley penciled in. Also got Middleton and the two Russian kids with similar names. At forward they got the same thing with a lot of kids who’ve seen some time or who will get a chance to get time and not enough spots for them all. If there was a bowling ball type player that’s drag guys into the fight and not go down losing soft all the time I’d be all for it but I don’t even know who’s out there except for the Viel guy they have.

How much better is this team if they get above average goalie play? Next season they have a better chance of that than they did this time around. Time will tell but if they stay healthy and Duby does the job they could be mediocre.

As long as it ain’t the idiot Mike Milbury, this acts as if his Sh!+ doesn’t stink. He’s also was the worst GM.

I'm calling it right now... (yes I've been drinking lol) Toronto Wins the cup this upcoming season (Don't know how, with the last few years being shitty playoffs but anyways it happens). Then next season Jumbo signs back with San Jose and then win the cup. Jumbo becomes the next Pat Maroon and wins cups back to back. If only real life would work out the way it does in my head lol.

Drinking? I would have guessed mushrooms or LSD with that fairy tale:) I have not enjoyed mushrooms for decades............good times............. I only tried them once. Some friends and I, while I was going to San Jose State in the early 80’s, drove up to Chico State for a party and we ate some mushrooms when we got there. Next thing I remember is waking up in an almond orchard by myself the next morning about five miles from Chico. Scared the you know what out of me...never tried them again

True or false The San Jose Sharks “reverse retro” jersey has apparently leaked and goes full California Seals throwback via Howard Berger of Between The Posts. Edit: This has been subsequently denied by Sharks President Jonathan Becher

Now that was a fun weekend..............
