So HDA thinks people that behave poorly at 16 should be banned for life. If the NBA and NFL agree to this there will be many open roster spots. I don't mind. Let them fall on their own sword. Agree 100%. Still haven’t decided if I’m going to watch again. It looks like the NHL refused to sign that pledge based on this new demand, so thats good news.

They're all a bunch of hypocrits. They seem to forget some of the episodes Evander Kane has been involved in. Plus there is no evidence the bullying had anything to do with the victim's race. Bullies target the weak, very often disabled people, whose existence drives them into a rage for some reason. Lots of victims of bullying are not black. Now of course Evander Kane probably wants this guy in the league. He will doubtless beat the guy into a coma the first game they meet up. If he doesn't walk into a right cross first and give himself a concussion. Which seems his wont. I wonder if the media will publish a full list of NBA/NFL players that have committed violence and been allowed to play.

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Coyotes announced today that the club has renounced the rights to Mitchell Miller. Miller was selected by the Coyotes in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
“We have decided to renounce the rights to Mitchell Miller, effective immediately,” said Coyotes’ President & CEO Xavier Gutierrez. “Prior to selecting Mitchell in the NHL Draft, we were aware that a bullying incident took place in 2016. We do not condone this type of behavior but embraced this as a teachable moment to work with Mitchell to make him accountable for his actions and provide him with an opportunity to be a leader on anti-bullying and anti-racism efforts. We have learned more about the entire matter, and more importantly, the impact it has had on Isaiah and the Meyer-Crothers family. What we learned does not align with the core values and vision for our organization and leads to our decision to renounce our draft rights. On behalf of the Arizona Coyotes ownership and our entire organization, I would like to apologize to Isaiah and the Meyer-Crothers family. We are building a model franchise on and off the ice and will do the right thing for Isaiah and the Meyer-Crothers family, our fans and our partners. Mr. Miller is now a free agent and can pursue his dream of becoming an NHL player elsewhere.”

You knew from the beginning what he did and you still picked him, way to give this kid hope and then cave to left. This kids future in the NHL is now over. Maybe there will be a spot for him in the NBA or the NFL

I hope all the prospects and players now are scrutinized for juvenile offenses and filtered according to this precedent. I invite the MeToo movement to spearhead the scrutiny.

The Yotes totally fucked this guy. Because of their actions the spotlight is on him. There is zero chance a fair standard will be put in place because if they did many young black athletes would no longer have a shot. This is the goon squads doing and this is just the beginning. F U BLM! F U Yotes!

Ray Lewis murdered two people. Not only did he get off scott-free, and complete a long NFL career, they put him in the hall of fame.

Reports out that the Sharks have signed F Kurtis Gabriel. Gabriel, did quite well and it was Lucic that was ready for it to end. Is he expected to play for Sharks or Cuda?

He’s also quite the advocate for the LGBT community judging by his social media. Sharks have a need for a tough player who can drag guys into the fight and I think with a long (losing) season expected it wouldn’t be bad to have a guy like him bring some jam to the lineup and no one else brings what he brings, mostly everyone else vying for time are the opposite of physical, in your face, players. So yeah I expect him to be with the Barracuda all year.

If these team is where I think it will be mid-season there will be much anger and blaming the coach wont cut it.

from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
No one from the National Hockey League will come right out and say why they have distanced themselves from the Hockey Diversity Alliance led by Evander Kane and Akim Aliu. But it isn’t all that difficult to figure out.
The NHL says it wants to do the right thing when it comes to Black Lives Matter and dealing with the long-term history of racism in its sport, when it comes to taking important stands and fighting intolerance and to making certain there are greater opportunities for minorities in the game.
The league is steadfast about that. It just doesn’t want to do it the way in which Kane, Aliu and the HDA were pushing and proposing it. And that personality clash of leadership has placed the Hockey Diversity Alliance on one side and the NHL on another side of a very significant battle.
This isn’t just a division between the league and the Alliance group, which came to fruition after numerous well-known instances were made public about racial problems in hockey.
In this case, this is an internal division between Black players, some on one side, some on the other, almost all of them inside the NHL world. Most of them are not necessarily working against each other, but in this case, they’re not necessarily working together, either.

The NHL season should be closer to 48 games than 82 games anyway. This is a win, ans not just because it means the Sharks will lose less.

from greenentrepreneur.com,
The National Hockey League has been pretty forward-thinking in its approach to marijuana use among players. Cannabis isn’t on the NHL’s list of banned substances, and players caught using cannabis substances aren’t automatically fined or suspended. Now the league’s alumni association has taken things a step further by partnering with a major cannabis company on a study of cannabis and concussion treatments.
The National Hockey League Alumni Association announced that it would join forces with MSO Canopy Growth in the study. The research, which started in 2019, focuses on using cannabinoids as a treatment for post-concussion neurological diseases in retired NHL players. The study began amid changes in how professional sports leagues treat cannabis and support by athletes for the benefits of cannabis for training and recovery.
Glenn Healy, executive director of the National Hockey League Alumni Association, said when the study launched that retired NHL players can face “physical consequences after they hang up their skates that can be devastating for both players and their loved ones for the rest of their lives.”
He said the study offers retired players “the promise of help and hope.”

If they go the bubble route again then I could see a 48 game season. How many months will it take to get all of the games and playoffs in without the players going stir crazy or outright saying enough is enough. I saw one report that some of the owners won't play any games if they can't get the fan revenue in their arena's
