Donato doesn’t really excite me but they were sorely lacking in scoring depth on the wings. Need Donato to be closer to second line production than third line. More Donskoi than Sorensen if you will. Really hope Dubnyk isn’t the answer in net though. The San Jose fans won't be beating down the ticket office doors to watch Dubnyk if the Sharks do trade for him. He just doesn't move the meter

Didn't like the idea of Dubnyk/Jones as the answer in net but seeing the return, I'm more okay with it. Basically helped the Wild get rid of Dubnyk more than anything. Cheap gamble that doesn't prevent them from making other moves.
Not sure Dubnyk or Jones can really regain their form but I'm guessing they didn't want to spend the cash or assets on one of the bigger names in trade or free agency. Even still, I do wonder if someone like Greiss couldn't be had for cheap.

The official announcement
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired a fifth-round selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for goaltender Devan Dubnyk and the Wild's seventh-round selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
Dubnyk, 34, went 12-15-2 with a 3.35 goals-against average (GAA), a .890 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout in 30 games with Minnesota in 2019-20. He posted a record of 177-113-28 with a 2.41 GAA, a .918 SV% and 23 shutouts in 328 career contests with the Wild from 2014-2020. In 2015, Dubnyk won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, finished third in Vezina Trophy voting and fourth in Hart Trophy voting and was named to the NHL's Second All-Star Team. Dubnyk is 247-195-52 with a 2.58 GAA, a .915 SV% and 32 shutouts in 520 career NHL games with Edmonton, Nashville, Arizona and Minnesota.

After seeing what was given for Dubby... I'm not mad really and especially with his cap hit being so low, for some reason I thought he was 4-5 mil. Donato will be interesting with the fresh start, kid has some skills.
Now that the goalie situation has been attended (we will see if that was the right move) I'm interested in seeing what the fix for the defense will be.
I wonder what the fourth line is gonna look like and if Turk and Berg will be ready from from the Cuda.

DW does bring up a good point that was probably overlooked... This next season is going to be condensed and the workload will better be suited for a goalie 1A/1B scenario. Plus it gives the two on the cuda a little while longer to marinate/develop. Jones lost his head and Dubby has personal issues to deal with, best case scenario both rebound, worst case only one rebounds.
Another area that will need attention with Goody gone and presumable Melker walks, the PK is gonna need some re-tooling. Yes the sharks were the best last year, but they were the most(?) penalized as well... Fallout from the Vegas series no doubt.

I wasn't excited about a Goalie that's about as good/bad as Jones, but the financials' of this deal are not bad!

DETROIT – Detroit Red Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman will participate remotely for both days of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He was exposed recently to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Yzerman has received multiple negative test results and is experiencing no symptoms. Out of an abundance of caution, however, he will join the Red Wings hockey operations staff virtually for the entirety of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Stamkos might be available but he's so injury prone I think I would pass Ya and its not like he out 2 weeks at a time, seems like he is out for months at a time lol. The way I see it, Tampa said all but 4 are available with killorn and Johnson at the front of the dump, they could buyout Stamkos and keep the team intact (basically the roster that won the cup -1/2 game). If the rumors were true, SJ was Stammer's 2nd choice when he signed the last deal, maybe he would take a discount? I guess its all in the "what if" territory now, not to mention it doesn't solve the problem on defense. But would be a wonderful boost since he is over a point a game player for the last 3 seasons.
