Calling all "Arm chair GM's" who do the Sharks take? Best available at pick 31 or try to fill all the holes we have?
I believe the Sharks make the Playoff's next Year.

Annnnd with the last pick of the first round, it goes to the Stanley Cup winning Tamp.... wait, no, thats not right. It goes to the San Jose Sharks who chose to sign Erik Karlsson to a ridiculously large contract instead of resigning former captain Joe Pavelski. Which turned into the 3rd overall pick for the Ottawa Senators 🙂 Glad to see that went well for them ..... So with the 31st overall pick, the Sharks choose: Ozzy Wiesblatt

Sharks trades down a few spots to get that pick and got a fourth rounder.
Other trades include the Sens getting Matt Murray for a second rounder and Jonathan Gruden (not the Raiders coach). Preds trade Nick Bonino, a 2nd, and a 4th to Wild for Luke Kunin and a 3rd.

Athanasiou and Duclair weren’t qualified and will be UFA. Would add some cheap, young, skill and speed to the wings.

31. San Jose Sharks: Ozzy Wiesblatt, RW Team: Prince Albert (WHL) Ranking: 40 | Nationality: CAN Age: 18 | Ht: 5-10 | Wt: 183 | Shot: R Stats: 64 GP, 25 G, 45 A
Scouting report: Wiesblatt has quick hands and can make plays with a good amount of speed. Despite not being a big body, he gets engaged physically and certainly competes at a high level. His hand skills are in the upper tier of this draft, and he has some creativity. -- Peters
Team fit: The Sharks might be looking at a transitional season in 2020-21 before they can really contend again, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they end up using all seven of their picks to help restock the pipeline. In this selection -- acquired from Tampa Bay in the Barclay Goodrow trade -- the Sharks targeted a playmaking forward. If we're looking at recency bias, that's not a surprise for a team that finished last season ranked 27th in the NHL in scoring. -- Kaplan
Where Wiesblatt is most likely to play in 2020-21: WHL

For the first time in franchise history, the San Jose Sharks have only drafted forwards. The team came into the 2020 NHL Entry Draft with seven picks. After trading four times, the Sharks walk away from this draft with nine selections.
Here are a few break downs of the prospects:
Just three of the forwards the Sharks selected are centers.
Four are from Canada; the United States, Russia, Sweden and the Czech Republic are also represented.
Six are right-handed shooters, three are lefties.
The Sharks had four picks in the seventh round. They took three over-agers with those picks.
They selected six players under 6-foot tall. Four of them were selected in the first four rounds.

The Athletic rated the Sharks draft as a B- didn’t get impact talent but added quality depth to the pipeline. That's what they've needed the last five years, depth. The pipeline between the Sharks and Baracuda is nonexistent

from Dan Rosen of NHL.com,
Goalies will flood the NHL free agent market when it opens Friday, Oct. 9, and several big names are expected to be on the move.
"There is going to be fluidity in the goaltending market for sure," Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving said..
Braden Holtby (Washington Capitals), Jacob Markstrom (Vancouver Canucks), Henrik Lundqvist (New York Rangers), Corey Crawford (Chicago Blackhawks), Thomas Greiss (New York Islanders), Anton Khudobin (Dallas Stars), Cam Talbot (Flames) and Mike Smith (Edmonton Oilers) are expected to be unrestricted free agents.
The Vegas Golden Knights are exploring ways to trade goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who has two years remaining on his contract ($7 million NHL salary cap charge), after they signed Robin Lehner to a five-year, $25 million contract Oct. 3.
The NHL salary cap will remain at $81.5 million for next season, which is targeted to begin Jan. 1, 2021.
