I did too. Let’s hope it didn’t come from his playing for another contract, possibly his NHL career.

LaBlanc gets a 4 year deal from uncle Dougie Elliotte Friedman made it sound like that was a handshake deal out of Labanc’s favour to DW last offseason. It’s more than he should get after a season like his but more than what he should’ve got then.

He'll Be a Kracken in two years I agree 100%... Unless EK65 is a complete dud this season, then I would offload that contract in a heartbeat.

Sounds like Patty’s back; 1 year 1M. Honestly I'm not even mad. Patty was one of the few bright spots from last season. If him and Jumbo sign for $Mil or less, that would be a very effective 3rd line with some versatility to move up in case of injury. Also leaves a little change for the cap. I see Matt Martin is UFA would he be someone worth bringing in for a 4th line?

Sounds like Patty’s back; 1 year 1M. That's cheap and he can still skate. Allegedly Well yes, in a straight line, like always. No move, no hands, average shot at best. And for all his ice time over 3+ decades of playing, amazingly little creative thinking in his game. SJ doing him a favor obviously but he can afford to retire. His kids must be well along in youth hockey now. He should be a peewees coach.

He sure does have a good amount of points (reg season and playoffs) for someone who can only skate forward and an average shot.

Well there are 47 guys in the NHL with 500 goals or more. Only six of them have a negative +/- The average on that list is +122. The median is +74. But, hey, two of them are even worse than Marleaus's -18. He certaainly did steadily rack up his personal stats over 1723 games, 30,266 minutes on the ice. But it doesn't seem to matter to his teams whether he was on the ice or not.

If your team gives up more goals than it scores when you are on the ice, you are not improving its fortunes are you? Of course this needs to be normalized to team performance. Doan, e.g., is an unusual case in that he was the most outstanding player on really bad teams his whole career. Probably some of those other guys too have +/- that was consistently at or above the median for their team every year. Marleau, on the other hand, was way down the +/- list on Sharks teams that were near the top of the league in team net goals for almost all the years he was there.
