I don't think you're giving Gabriel enough credit. A lot of guys would do a whole lot worse than that. Gabriel used a good move of whacking Reaves' left arm and putting him off balance a couple times. Neither really landed much. Should be a better follow up than letting Tuch score. He is here for one thing. He failed not so long ago we had Gallant. He woukd not ha e failed Send the kid back down. He has nothing to offer. The Gallant brothers are awesome. I would save a spot for either one on my team. Side note: I'd ship a whatever pick to the Isles to get Johnston. |

Jones has been bad for so long though, I expect the worst at all times. Like Niemi last couple seasons but maybe worse It feels worse than Niemi's slothy moments. Maybe that is because of how quickly Jones demise occurred. One great year and then... Then DW gave Jones a long term contract and Jones got comfortable |

I’d give him a shot but I think size-wise he’s not gonna put up a better fight against heavyweights like Reaves, MacDermid, or even Deslauriers. I like how Gabriel fights, he’s a bit of a throwback, but I don’t think he’s at all better than the other three listed, or some other guys around. Gabriel played a good game yesterday, finished some big hits, fought, but his skating seems funny. Feel like if you want a guy to bring a physical presence they gotta be able to skate. Reaves, Wilson, they can fly, they’re the gold standard. I don’t know what Viel’s skating looks like but I can’t imagine he gets around any worse than Gabriel. And he’s put up some points so I’d like to see him get a look. Put Viel and Gabriel on the same line and all of sudden you go to one of the tougher teams out there. One other point, being more middleweight size and from what I’ve seen I think Viel could be more of a tone setter, consistently physical, find fights, and be the engine that drives the team physically. Wilson did that for the Caps, I have zero belief they win a cup without getting him and what he brought to the table. I think that’s more of what’s needed and I see Viel doing that more so than Gabriel but like I said, that can work against a lot of teams but if they got a Reaves or someone like that, it’s basically a trump card. If they wanted that, Ross Johnston could be had for a pick. |
