So is that a head hit?
Of course not.
Let's keep being inconsistent with this.

Tough to see what exactly got Couture, whether it was the glove or the butt-end of Carter's stick but either way you can't say definitively that it was intentional on Carter's part. But either way, there should be a response when your captain goes down like that. I know Kane's value is a lot higher due to the overall lack of talent on the roster but he hasn't really gotten in the mix of things much this year. We all know he has a huge target on his back from the officials and I wonder if the coaches have him on a short leash when it come to that stuff for both those reasons.

You think there would have been a response if Kurtis Gabriel was in the game? Maybe. One thing I never understand about today's game is how teams don't take moments like that for their own advantage. Why not use your captain getting knocked out as a moment to galvanize your group and rally around? I understand they were leading when that happened so maybe it was the better part of valour not to give the Kings anything. But then don't you have to ask whether or not them knocking out your captain and 1C is them getting some advantage regardless of what you do? Clean or dirty, when you stick up for a teammate it should bring the team together and get them to play better. If that's the case, why not use any slight, no matter the size, as a means to that end? Whether it's Reaves chirping your coach, Binnington acting like an idiot, or Carter hitting Couture, why don't you use those moments to get after guys and bring everyone into the fight?

We all thought it was funny when Couture (allegedly) said there was a bunch of co-workers on the team. Now it's no so funny because it's true. These guys won't stick up for each other even when one of them gets knocked out during the game. They gotta tear this whole team apart and find players that care more about the game than themselves. Till then they're just a bunch of guys collecting a fucking paycheck This kind of shit really pisses me off

He likely would have not been on the ice when this happened and the Kings no way would have let him get to him at the end of his penalty. The Sharks really just accepted this and showed no anger. They likely did not see it as it happened and Carter was putting on a pretty good "I dont know what happened" act but after the fact they had time to view it and respond. They chose to do nothing. Kane clearly is not interested in fighting anymore.
