Feels like this was it. They had 5 games in a row against the Ducks and Kings and they've lost two of them with two more to go. Just not good enough to get it done, which isn't a letdown, it was what we all expected. They actually got better this year, which maybe something considering the contributions they got from guys like Ferraro, Knyzhov, Gambrell, and Balcers. Now though, it's time to trade what they can and play more prospects to see what they have moving forward. The worse they finish, the better off they will be. I want a top 10 pick. I want anyone who may be unhealthy not to play and anyone who needs surgery in the offseason to get it done now (Couture? Vlasic?). I don't want to see Jones in the net, I want to know what's there with Melnichuk and Korenar. Let them battle it out and see what's what. I am not sure the system is capable of handling a top 10 pick.

Luc Robataille's last game was the final game of the season in SJ. Before I moved to SJ I lived in San Diego and followed the Kings though their Gretzky years and really like Robataille. Heck, everybody loved Luc. During the game when the announcer reminded the fans this was Robataille's final NHL game, he got a 5 min standing ovation. After the game when everyone came by to shake his hand he got another 10 minute standing O, almost everyone remaining at their seat to do so. I expect Marleau will get even more his last game. Hopefully he has the class to call it quits at the end of this season.

Probably not but there's a serious talent deficit and getting the highest pick possible is the best solution, at least better hoping that they don't ruin a skilled player rather than turning a checker into a scorer.

If I remember correctly they said the lottery is going down to two teams and in order to keep teams from tanking on purpose they are restructuring. So now is it going to be better to finish last or middle of the losers? (who knows)
