Also, is Hasso now channeling his inner Bill Wirtz?

They wont need this guy when they play the Sharks:
PAT GRAHAM Wed, September 29, 2021, 10:26 AM DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Avalanche added some more punch to their roster by basically bringing in a 6-foot-5 bodyguard.
Among the duties of defenseman Kurtis MacDermid — have the backs of Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Cale Makar and any of their other high-flying players.
Known for their speed and skill, the Avalanche felt they needed to raise their physicality another notch after being eliminated in the second round of the postseason for a third straight season. Despite winning the Presidents’ Trophy for the best record in the league in 2020-21, they bowed out to Vegas, which proved to be a rougher, tougher team.
Maybe not anymore — not with their new enforcer.
MacDermid was acquired from the Seattle Kraken for a future fourth-round pick. He's a heavyweight on the ice who has 151 penalty minutes in 118 career games.
“A big deterrent, when it comes to teams running around and taking liberties on our guys,” coach Jared Bednar said. “It can help you.”
Especially come playoff time. The Avalanche led the Golden Knights 2-0 in the series before losing four straight. They didn't have Nazem Kadri, either, who served an eight-game suspension for an illegal hit to the head during the St. Louis Blues series.
“We lost to their physicality, I think that that’s my take from the series,” Rantanen said. “Playoff hockey, it’s way different than the regular season.”

That would be pretty sweet if Eklund gets 9 games, sounds like he was pretty solid last night.
Predictably the Kings tried to maim him and Hertl and Ferraro answered. Ferraro 185 took a beating from Doty 230+?, that’s like jumbo/Scotty Nichols disparity. Ferraro looks a lot bigger than 185

If only the had a guy who could mix it up but had the speed and skill to actually play on one of the top lines… oh wait… nevermind.

I wish we could see these games, from the sounds Eklund is a beast.

So... For next season, when we might have a shot at actually making the playoffs (after we get Shane haha) I hope Doug can take a page from the Isles and acquires an identity line like the Isles have with Martin, Clutterbuck, and Cizikas. A 4th line that can hit/play and is not made up of rookies looking to get a shot staying with the big club.

Ferraro is a good hitter but not a fighter at all as I know you are well aware of. Who will take that roll this season? Viel is the only option really. He is game but he won't be a deterrent. Ferraro's quote is the right attitude they need to have but a wolfpack without any claws or teeth doesn't amount to much. This team isn't going to be good anyway so why not have a guy to make sure you at least don't get run outta the building?

They intimidate nobody and they are as passive as they come. Thats fine if you have exceptional skill and speed but they dont have that either. What exactly is this teams identity?

The lack of identity is troubling and has gone on far too long. And every time this issue is brought up I cannot help but think back to 2003 when Wilson became GM and what his first move was, what sparked it, and what he said about it. It was a different era to be sure but still, having the right attitude about sticking together, standing up for each other, and being hard to play against never goes out of style. Pretty sure the Lightning figured that out and started winning cups because of it.

Yall have very valid points. I do wish "Angry Burns" would come out more than once a season, dude is an animal but seems to have been neutered for his wife? Need some gritty forwards too otherwise the only "gritty" is an angry pickle. The team site lists him at 205, when da fuq did that happen? I could have sworn he has been 175-180 his entire career lol.

Some good news after actually being able to "watch" the sharks... The cuda should be well improved this year with the talent. But Eklund I think is the real deal. It is kinda a tough call to let him marinate on the cuda this season or call him up out of the gate.

Martin Jones in net for Flyers tonight 3 goals allowed on 11 shots .727 save percentage The first two goals, a bruin was left wide open across the crease. Third he should have had. Philly had almost all AHL lineup while Bruins ran mostly NHL lineup. There is more to the story than the analytics, but Jones isn't Carey Price either.

I was relieved to actually get to watch the game because on the radio you get half the picture. I hope him and Weatherby get a crack at the big club.
