from Eric Francis of Sportsnet,
Known for 17 years in Calgary as the type of guy who’d block a shot with his face to win an exhibition game, Mark Giordano’s ultimate act of selflessness came in the dying hours of his storied Flames tenure.
“Going through this process just tells you about the guy,” said general manager Brad Treliving, who spoke “hourly” with his captain leading up to Seattle’s decision to draft the fiercely loyal defender.
“He’s telling me, ‘you’ve got to make the smart play here -- remember, I’m 38 years old.’ As much as he’s dying to stay here he looks at it through, ‘what’s best for the long-term interest of the club.’ Totally selfless all the time.”
Simply put, no team lost more to the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday than the Calgary Flames.
For the Flames it’s a devastating blow at a crucial time, depriving a reeling organization of its leader and its poster boy for perseverance, hard work and dedication.

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, a 2022 second round draft choice and a 2022 seventh round draft choice from the Philadelphia Flyers. The 28-year-old Gostisbehere recorded 9-11-20 and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 41 games with Philadelphia in 2020-21. He also scored five power-play goals and nine power-play points this season. “We are very pleased to acquire Shayne,” said Armstrong. “He is a very good offensive defenseman and an excellent skater. He will be a solid addition to our blueline this season and will be a key power play player for us.” Salary dumpster will always be a dumpster.

Started with 10ish. Now it's dwindled to 3.5, thats not going to get enough manpower to get back into the playoffs let alone contend. Hopefully there is some shenanigans to be had they can offload a NMC or two.

The Sharks will open the 2021-22 NHL season on Sat., Oct. 16 against the Winnipeg Jets at SAP Center (@sapcenter).
Following that contest, the team will hit the road for five games, before returning to SAP Center on Oct. 28 to host the 2021 Stanley Cup runner-up Montreal Canadiens.
The Sharks longest homestand is seven games, when the team will host Calgary, Minnesota, Dallas, Seattle, Vancouver (twice) and Edmonton Dec. 7 through Dec. 23. The team also has a five-game homestand (Oct. 28-Nov. 6) and two four-game homestands (Nov. 20-Nov. 26 and Jan. 11-17).
The Sharks have three, season-long five-game road trips, which also constitute the team's first three journeys away from SAP Center during the 2021-22 season: Oct. 19-Oct. 26; Nov. 9-Nov. 18; Nov. 28-Dec. 5.

He is but getting fired over what he said was woke hit job. For sure, out of all the dumb stuff he has said over the years (just hockey related was bad enough) that is what got him fired lol. But maybe it was karma catching up. Same thing with JR, granted only time I liked him is when he played in SJ (seemed like he didn't say dumb things while there) but maybe karma just got him too.

The price for taking Gostisbehere was a 2nd and a 7th for only 2 years at only 4.5 and he’s only 28.
I’m trying to extrapolate the price for someone taking Pickles or one of our Norris winners and my head is spinning. There is no way out. Except LTIR. 3 of them.
You couldn’t have done a better job of ruining the team, this was a masterpiece of self destruction!

His offense was so trivial, if any executives liked him at all he’d probably have survived that one. The situation was a perfect excuse to let him out the door.

Maybe now that Weber is out next year or forever they might be interested again but I doubt it. Best thing he could do is go on LTIR, unless he decides he wants to be good again. He showed flashes again last season.
