Haha, why not? Julien and Therrien had such triumphant returns, why not Vigneault? Wait, I'm seeing a pattern here.

First time I've seen Maple Leafs do stuff like that since the Orr/McLaren/Fraser days. Love this kind of animosity in the regular season. Dillon got worked by Clifford though.

via Sportsnet,
The International Ice Hockey Federation confirmed that China will be granted a host exemption for the men's hockey tournament at the upcoming Beijing Winter Games.
The status of the Chinese men's team was up in the air in recent weeks due to questions about the team's eligibility and competitiveness.
The team is made up mostly of players on the KHL's Kunlun Red Star -- including several North American-born players. Kunlun competed in two test games against KHL opponents in mid-November with IIHF officials closely monitoring to determine if the team would be competitive against NHL competition in the Olympics.
The 12-team men's hockey tournament features three groups of four teams. China is in Group A with Canada, the United States and Germany -- the reigning silver medalists.
I expect the lights will start flickering in the arena when the score is 1-0, they may go out at 15-0.

Corey Masisak is the new ThePathetic beat writer in the court frog's stead. Masisak was previously the NJD beat writer, so he's used to unexciting environments. He was also a WSH beat writer before that, so he's used to disappointing environments as well. Haven't an opinion on his writing.

This article was from December 8th. The tax issue has since been resolved so they still have a barn to play their games. The Yotes ownership has sunk into a daily life of being the cheapest owner in pro sports
from Katie Strang of The Athletic,
The City of Glendale is threatening to lock the Arizona Coyotes out of Gila River Arena due to delinquent tax bills and unpaid arena charges, The Athletic has learned.
On Dec. 3, the Arizona Department of Revenue filed a tax lien notice in Maricopa County against IceArizona Hockey LLC, the company that owns the Coyotes, for more than $1.3 million in unpaid state and city taxes. The City of Glendale, which has been locked in a lengthy dispute with the Coyotes over delinquent bills, has already notified ASM, the Gila River Arena management company, and Coyotes team president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez of the cancellation of the Coyotes’ business license.
The City of Glendale is owed approximately $250,000 in unpaid city taxes, according to a letter from City Manager Kevin Phelps to Gutierrez, and the remaining amount is owed to the state. The state tax lien notice, obtained via a public records request, asserts that the Coyotes owe taxes dating back to June 2020.
The Coyotes, according to the notice sent to ASM and to the team, will have until 5 p.m. MST on Dec. 20 to pay the outstanding arena invoices from the 2020-21 season, as well as the outstanding tax bill. If they do not settle up the remaining debt by that time, the City of Glendale has instructed ASM to deny team employees access to the arena and the offices within the arena used as administrative space. Arena vendors would also be locked out.
