Yeah, I think it would take some tweaks in the offseason, players sent out and brought in coupled with some drafting and Eklund back with the big club. The core will all be a year older. Eklund better learn to keep his head up or he will get blown up. He did not even manage to learn that in Sweden. Remember when teams went off on the donkey? Get ready for another donkey punch. I hope that doesn't happen, especially with all the focus on concessions now. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that, poor Donkey, that man was abused night in and night out and the refs just looked the other way.

Agree the Donkey was the victim of some dirty hits but Ekland will bet knocked out on a clean hit before the midway point next season. I back this up with a bet for a premium beer. Any takers?

Saw that a GM proposed closing the ‘Kucherov’ LTIR loophole so that whatever roster a team dresses in the playoffs must be cap-compliant. 100% I endorse this.

Bleacher Report today came up with a list of players most likely to be traded this off season (for contract, personal or roster/age reasons):
D - Jakob Chychrun (AZ) LW - Jake DeBrusk (BOS) D - Matt Dumba (MIN) LW - JT Miller (VAN) G - James Reimer (SJ) G - Mackenzie Blackwood (NJ)
Article said many teams would be feeling a Cap pinch this summer and good players will move. If SJ's Kane Cap hit situation finally resolves, Sharks should try and improve with better wingers for Couture and general upgrade of the bottom six.

I think its your middle answer... Bias. No doubt Mckinnon gets heavy favor from the nhl, also why he hasn't been suspended for his on ice antics and I would be willing to be that behind the scenes Carolina is being punished for its controversial offseason signing. Carolina is going through the same thing the sharks went through after "the vegas" series.

I watch almost every Canes game. Obvious bias. They get called for stuff, then the other team doesn’t get called for the same thing. Good thing their PK is top notch.

Where's Dougie
SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks Assistant General Manager Joe Will announced today that the club has re-signed defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov to a one-year contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Nikolai is a reliable and versatile defenseman who can play in many situations," said Will. "His development through the Barracuda along with his intense work ethic allowed him to matriculate to being an NHL regular."
Knyzhov, 24, has not appeared with the Sharks this season due to injury.
In the 2020-21 season, Knyzhov skated in 56 games with the Sharks in the 2020-21 season, recording ten points (two goals, eight assists) and earned Sharks' "Rookie of the Year" honors. The defenseman was one of four NHL rookies to appear in all 56 games (others: Nils Hoglander, VAN; Alexis Lafreniere, NYR; Josh Norris, OTT) and ranked seventh among League rookies in blocked shots (54) and ninth in hits (84). He scored his first career NHL goal on Mar. 31 against Minnesota and collected assists in back-to-back games Apr. 2-3 against Los Angeles to mark a career-long three-game point streak (one goal, two assists).
During the 2019-20 campaign, Knyzhov appeared with the Sharks and San Jose Barracuda, making his NHL debut on Mar. 7 against Ottawa. He finished the season with the Sharks appearing in three games recording two penalty minutes. With the Barracuda, he registered five points (one goal, four assists) in 33 contests and finished the season tied for 15th among AHL rookie defensemen and fourth among Barracuda defensemen in plus/minus (4).
Prior to returning to play in North America, Knyzhov spent parts of three seasons playing in three different Russian leagues, including appearing in three games with SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) during the 2018-19 season. He spent most of his time playing for SKA's Vysshaya Hokkeinaya Liga (VHL) and Molodezhnaya Hokkeinaya Liga (MHL) teams, registering 18 points (two goals, 16 assists) in 54 MHL games and 11 points (three goals, eight assists) with a plus-26 rating in 79 VHL games.
Internationally, he has represented Team Russia at the 2018 World Juniors, appearing in five games.
The six-foot-three, 222-pound native of Moscow, Russia was signed by San Jose as a free agent on July 2, 2019 following his participation in the Sharks' 2019 Prospect Development Camp.
