It didn't used to be like that with expansion teams but when you pay Buttman and Jacobs $500 Million to join the league certain things are arranged in advance |

One point I want to make is that in this current era of NHL hockey where everyone passes up on hits, no one is a threat to anyone's safety after the whistle, and everyone is all buddies on the ice, guys like Ryan Reaves can actually intimidate because they don't play by those rules. You see it with Wilson too, to a lesser degree guys like Ferland and Anderson. They're all big, they can all skate, they can all play, and they all like playing a mean brand of hockey. These are guys who hit to hurt, hit all the time, and can back it up against anyone. They don't mind playing the villain and being a bully. It is pretty obvious those guys can have a major impact in the game because what they bring is so rare that other players just aren't prepared for it.
People can make fun of Reaves' hockey ability or contract all they want, right now he's helping his team win and doing his part as well as anyone is. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone like that?

Objectively they kind of have to suspended JT for the hit. McNabb's isn't good either and the fact that they haven't even looked at it is typical NHL with its double standard but it's pretty clear Thornton puts his shoulder right into Nosek's face. If they don't suspend Thornton it kind of opens up everything for the rest of the playoffs and I don't think they'll do that.
Hope I'm wrong but I don't think we'll see Jumbo for G4.

Reaves and Wilson are exactly the type of players you need in the postseaon. They play sometimes a bit outside the lines but they also consistently hit guys with good clean very hard game changing hits. I also cant recall in any playoff series more guys getting hurt by shots they either block or somehow the puck hits them. Pavs/Logan/Haley/Vlassic have all been hurt to different degrees. All have missed time on ice as a result, Vlassic has missed a game and Haley may follow. Four players in three games?  ? |

I have no problem with JT getting a game if McNabb gets the same. How was that any less of a shot to the head? No call on the ice. No surprise. Reeves on Timo gets nothing? Can't say they didn't see that one - a ref pulled Reeves off of Timo. I get it that some calls will be missed but the number of misses in this series is piling up. The blown call with Cooch / disallowed goal? The stick to the face of Timo (with blood should have been a 4 minute). Just call it even. More than anything else, I'd like to see game 1 Sharks again.
