I think his gap control and instinct on when to pinch vs back off is about as good as anyone on the team to maintain possession while not overplaying and causing disastourous breaks. Basically, the subtle player that is going to keep possession, reduce odd man rushes and give the offense that extra few chances to make a difference. I think having him in is huge. Not to mention when he went out we proceeded to drop 3 straight to LA in that reverse sweep year. |

But with a really shit Jones it helps having the reliable rock back there. When you are skating burns and karlsson 25 minutes a night to compensate you are opening your shit tending up to more odd man rushes and then chasing all night. I agree tonight is like night and day with the full group chipping in. But I think Vlassic has always been a fairly large component that helps stabilize this team. |
