Reaves had a habit of ducking the true heavyweights back when they still existed. He has some skill to still remain in the game but stacking him up against the likes of the Colton Orrs, Derek Boogaards, Eric Godards, or Brian McGrattans is just silly. Reaves gets praised when he beats up on guys like Lukas Sedlak or Marcus Foligno. Guy didn't even beat Kane clearly. He's the toughest guy in the NHL right now but that's more about the NHL than about him. You'll put him tougher than Lucic, or you just forgot about Lucic? IMO, way tougher than Lucic

100% of VGK fans would've wanted a five and a game if that happened to Mark Stone instead of Joe Pavelski. It was a half penalty on both Eakin (crosschecking) and Stastny (interference). Put together and you get one penalty. That's not how it works but any way you cut it you end up with two Knights knocking Pavelski onto his head, causing severe injury. Unless I've read the rulebook wrong the refs cannot call a two minute penalty there. It's either nothing or it's five and a game because Pavelski is clearly injured from the play. The other part as someone mentioned is temperature control, which is quite valid. If they let one team's captained get knocked, bloodied, and carried off without any penalty called, with how this series has gone, you're rolling the dice with what happens next. You all know I'd be calling for blood. For as much as we criticize the Sharks in that aspect of the game the way the responded on the power play makes me think that with not call, the game gets really ugly really fast. I don't believe in Karma and both teams got away with some calls but it was pretty clear Vegas benefited from the officiating more than San Jose over the course of those seven games. And lastly no call fixes a game. You still have to play on the ice. Don't fail to capitalize on great scoring chances. Don't let a fourth line centre who didn't play much beat you in OT. Bounces and calls come and go, just don't allow four goals in less than five minutes and you win the game Golden Knights. It's not asking a lot. I would absolutely buy into the “controlling the game” theory...except everyone knows (I assume the refs also) that the Sharks are one of the softest teams in the NHL. I would guess that there would have been no payback at all after that play based on their history. Maybe Kane shows up (Dillon was riding the pine at that point) but no one else goes. Burns is the softest big man in the league. Maybe JT goes as he can flip the switch at times. I think one of the linesmen (neither ref raised their hand for a penalty) saw the cross check told the ref, and that added with the obvious serious injury, led to the major.

The anti major crowd is claiming that Stasny couldn't have done anything. I call horseshit but am done arguing with them. My not-so hot take on the major penalty. Eakin gets 2 for the cross check. Stasny gets 5 and game for interference causing an injury (when he pushed pavelski’s chest back and down after the initial contact). TRO I actually think thats the right call. No way Eakin should have got the 5.

Couture mentioned something about him seizuring a bit. SPORTS Sharks' Pavelski takes scary fall after Eakin hit Wednesday, April 24th, 2019 12:12AM San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski had to be helped off the ice in the third period of Tuesday's Game 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights after his head hit the ice after he was cross-checked by Cody Eakinduring a faceoff. Eakin was given a five-minute major and a 10-minute game misconduct. The incident happened at the 10:47 mark in the third. On a faceoff in San Jose's offensive zone, Eakin cross-checked Pavelski in the chest.Paul Stastny then hit Pavelski as he fell to the ice, with his helmet slamming down. Pavelski appeared to be knocked out, and blood poured out of his mouth, which was injured after he took a puck to the face while scoring a goal in Game 1. "You see our leader go down, he's out cold on the ice and it was kind of like he was seizuring up a little bit so tough to see," teammate Logan Couture said. abc7news.com/sports/sharks-pavelski-leaves-after-hard-hit-by-eakin/5267627/I hope that news report is right, but I just watched it again...I didn’t see any blood in his mouth and JT was holding a towel to the side of his head, nowhere near his mouth. Also, the blood is literally pouring from the side of his helmet while he’s on the ice. All this hockey stuff doesn’t really matter when someone gets hurt that bad...

If it's San Jose's fault for allowing a goal on that joke of a GI "penalty" in game 2, it's Vegas' fault for allowing 4 on that major. You can't have it two ways. The picture in the post above says alot as well. Agree. I’m really curious about how/why Pavs is bleeding so much from inside the protected area of his helmet. I understand that a hard “contact” injury can break skin and that scalp injuries bleed a lot...but I can’t remember seeing someone bleed out of their helmet like that. I wish they’d give an update on his condition...sincerely concerned for his health. I assume a concussion at the minimum. It could easily be a compression laceration. I've had two helmet related injuries like that. One from a dirt bike crash another from getting slew-footed playing hockey. The latter caused a concussion. It happens. I'm hoping that's all that happened to Pavelski, a CL and a concussion. He surely has the latter.

Yep! Can you imagine Gallant had the roles been flipped and it was his guy getting his skull busted open? He would've lost his shit for sure! And if there were only 2 minutes given or, heaven forbid, no call made? His head would've exploded right there on the bench! Now I wish I could have seen Gallant lose it. Fuck that guy! He's an absolute prick! If he's behind the bench next season, I'm still firing a puck onto the bench at his melon head!

Agree...after watching Gallant this series, I see why their fanbase is also so insane. He has no credibility after all the antics about the call where Juicy literally had his teeth knocked out. He’s the epitome of a “clown.”

His boss, GM George McPhee once stormed into Chicago's dressing room post-game and punched Hawks coach (at the time) Lorne Molleken in the eye for taking runs at his Caps players in a 2001 exhibition game. So McPhee ain't ever going to keep some wimp like Jay Woodcroft behind his bench. Any pro coach worth his salt is going to ridiculously stick up for his guys and talk big shit about opponents. You know you'd want that too in a coach. McPhee is stinging big-time today but I think he hangs on to Gallant.

Well... after so many years reading the old board, I guess that game really got me in the mood to create an account and post something.
Have you guys heard anything about Pavs status? That head injury looked nasty, and not getting any updates from the Sharks official accounts is adding to the worries about his health.

I think there was a report saying some of the players thought it not as serious as they feared.

Now I just have a way to throw our f bombs about hockey over there that my family or occasional coworker doesn't see, which is a net positive.

My theory is that since we are still active in the post season news will be very hush hush. It sucks as we all just want to know that he as a person is ok and we are being subjected to the general injury embargo that goes on at this time of year.

You know you'd want that too in a coach. McPhee is stinging big-time today but I think he hangs on to Gallant. I'd want a coach that was as committed to his players as they are to the coach. There's a big difference, IMHO, between sticking up for your players and being a whiny bitch. Gallant was the latter. Sometimes your players take a penalty, an obvious penalty, and you should just shut the fuck up and prepare your team to kill the penalty. Gallant has to give the refs an earful. Props to the refs for putting up with him. I'm dropping a bench minor on him after a warning to shut the fuck up. How did Gallant handle the 5 minute major? Well, he fucked it up that's how. He lost his shit and in turn, lost his team. Instead of focusing on his team and guiding them through the storm, he shit the bed and so did his team. In that situation, you want a coach that can handle his emotions and stay in control. That's not Gallant. Not even close...
