I only saw highlights, but it’s a good win for the Sharks, especially after giving up another early goal. Greubauer worries me if he gets hot and finds his groove. Otherwise I sense this Avs team is going to be much more beatable in the neutral zone and attacking zone than Vegas. So I'm hoping that even with an early or weak goal here and there (not 3 in 10 minutes but say 1 early) the Sharks offense will still get it done against these guys. Vegas was shit because their combination of speed, borderline interference everywhere, and willingness to 5 man collapse for any second chance opportunity makes them a very formidable opponent to score against, especially when they are holding a decent lead. I think that alone got into the Sharks' heads and made those early goals all the more back breaking.

Braun was probably the worst Shark tonight. Going away... I really can't see him getting another contract here. I think he has one more year... The only thing that he has going for him is he is the Vlasic Whisperer. The real question is if Heed can show he is going to consistently out perform Braun. If so, you can let him walk. With that said, the drop down to Heed/Ryan and then to Middleton makes me worried. Maybe 1 more bridging year for some other young guns to develop will resolve this, but I do sense there is something to be said in keeping Braun even as a 7/8 guy if he starts losing his spot to the younger legs.

This is the kind of an opponent Joonas Donskoi can play a bigger role against. Such a shame he can't play. Gambrell was the worst player last night, with Radil not far ahead.

We didn't give up many odd man rushes tonight Awesome! Neither did the Sharks! What a great coincidence!

Good win boys. LaBanc has found his mojo. He is now a dangerous weapon.

We were talking about THAT on the drive home from the game. just based on this one game, Vegas was constantly coming harder and faster at the Sharks than the Avs were tonight. Colorado isn't nearly as deep as Vegas. find ways to stop MacKinnon. How did Calgary go belly-up against those guys? But then we also remembered Calgary won game one in THEIR Avs series,4-0. Must be a sleeper hold the Avs try to lock in for game 2. worked against the flames. Curious now for Sunday's game 2. Labanc played a hell of a game E. Karlsson was VERY good at advancing the puck out of his zone. Thornton by far is greatest Shark ever. Jones was good tonight under pressure. Colorado played green kid, new Hobey Baker winner Cale Makar a TON. Straight out of College (U Mass) just earlier this month. 18 blueline minutes tonight in NHL round two? Wow. That Makar kid weighs 185lbs. Need to start dumping him. Game 2 is always the huge one. Either you double down in your victory, or show the other team has life. Yeah, I think he's done in SJ when his contact expires. Maybe sooner...

This series is a great matchup for the sharks. And exactly when they needed it.
