Just got home from the Tank. I'm already starting to feel hungover. Stopped in Livermore to pick up some wine on the way. Drank some. Drank some more in San Jose. Throat is hammered. Not much voice left...left it in 124...

IDK, it looks like 23+68 have become PDB's choice against MacKinnon. I didn't get to watch this game, but from the radio call, it sounds like the big line was pretty frustrated and thrown off their game tonight. Ratinan was probably their best player. He was dangerous. Landeskog was fairly noticeable as well. MacKinnon was fairly invisible.

from Mike Chambers of the Denver Post,
Philipp Grubauer was excellent again Saturday night, but opposing goalie Martin Jones of the San Jose Sharks was just as good and teammate Tomas Hertl made the plays that mattered in Game 5 of the Avalanche-Sharks Western Conference semifinal series at SAP Center.
Hertl’s two goals and Jones’ 21 saves spearheaded the Sharks’ 2-1 victory that gave San Jose a 3-2 lead in the series. Game 6 is Monday night at the Pepsi Center in a potential elimination contest for the Avs.
San Jose broke a 1-1 tie 6:26 of the third period with Hertl’s second goal of the game. Hertl outmuscled Avs center Nathan MacKinnon at the top of the crease and put a backhander behind Grubauer.
MacKinnon had zero shots after two periods and finished with just one. He and Mikko Rantanen (two shots) entered the game with NHL-playoff-leading 13 points, but both had their worst offensive performances of the postseason. MacKinnon was brief in his postgame remarks.
“Just didn’t get many shots,” said MacKinnon, who saw his eight-game points streak end. “We have to win one at home. That’s it.”

HERTL, PAVELSKI SPARK SHARKS IN GAME 5 Just moments after Tomas Hertl gave the Sharks a third-period lead with his second goal of the contest, captain Joe Pavelski ignited the SAP Center crowd with his first public appearance since leaving Game 7 of the First Round with an injury, as San Jose rode the momentum to a Game 5 victory. The Sharks moved within one win of advancing to the Conference Finals for the fifth time in franchise history and first since their run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2016. * Hertl (8-4—12 in 12 GP) pulled within one of teammate Logan Couture (9-3—12 in 12 GP) for the most goals in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Only two other postseasons in franchise history have featured multiple players with at least eight goals: Pavelski (14) and Couture (10) each hit double digits in 2016, while Pavelski (9) and Patrick Marleau (8) teamed up for the feat in 2010. * Saturday’s victory marked San Jose’s third comeback win of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, trailing only Dallas and Carolina (4 each) for the most among all 16 postseason clubs. The Hurricanes reached the Conference Finals with a win Friday, while the Stars can join them with a victory Sunday. * The Sharks earned their second win of the 2019 postseason when scoring two or fewer goals (also Game 6 of R1). During the 2018-19 regular season, San Jose failed to win a contest in which it scored two or fewer goals, posting a 0-17-3 record in such contests.

Good. We need some logic in this joint Wait...it was clearly explained to me that logic wasn’t allowed in the PIT; has that changed with the migration to the new board?

Geez, talk about Martin Jones turning it around during the playoffs. That’s impressive. I hate to get my hopes up...but historically, teams tend to go far in the playoffs behind a goalie that gets hot all of the sudden like Jones is doing. We were at the game last night and he looked so calm and in control it was like watching a different goalie then his regular season performance. Go Sharks!

We could've got together for a drink. We were in 124 last night. Had a great angle on the Hertl deflection goal. Sweet!

Geez, talk about Martin Jones turning it around during the playoffs. That’s impressive. I glanced past this earlier but I have to admit Jones is much better when he faces a lot of shots. Maybe he gets bored and loses concentration waiting for some action.

I glanced past this earlier but I have to admit Jones is much better when he faces a lot of shots. Maybe he gets bored and loses concentration waiting for some action. First, every goalie is better when he facees more shots.
Second, the last line is stupid. It should've been shots/60:00 TOI. Jones was pulled twice early in these first four games, and he had very long OT games in the latter eight. His effective pace shots/60:00 TOI is 28.85 for the first 4 games, 30.11 for the last 8.

Had some awesome seats in 106 for this one. Mood was quite sour after the called back goal but luckily they turned it around.
Now I’m going to be greedy and hope that the Sharks give me an opportunity to do it again next round.
