How did it take us this long to get the drinking thread back up and running?
Anyway, looking to try some homemade gin and tonics with mint blended in. Who's got a good recommendation for gin?

My choice would be Hendricks, though Tanqueray is a solid choice too. TRO Edit: the Hendricks would be interesting with the mint however I would say based on the season to find a good batch of Wild Turkey Rare Breed (the cask strength stuff) and make mint juleps. I do personally prefer bourbon whiskey to gin.

Who has a recommendation for Tequila? I have tried Don Pillar (Thanks to our Columbus friend) I wouldn’t say it’s a recommendation but you could support a local entrepreneur and get a bottle of E. Cuarenta It’s available in blanco, reposado y añejo. www.oldtowntequila.com/e-cuarenta-tequila-anejo/I’ve not had it so I cannot speak to its quality whatsoever TRO

Who has a recommendation for Tequila? I have tried Don Pillar (Thanks to our Columbus friend) I’m much more of a bourbon guy but I’ll sip good ta-kill-ya with friends every now and then. I think Don Julio Anejo is good for the money. Its about $50 for a basic bottle and you can also get some more expensive aged stuff if you want. Also, Red gave me a tequila tip once and it was good, but I forget the name.

I think I praised the Costco brand cognac XO (less than $50) before. Now we tried the Tesseron Cognac VSOP for half the price. It's also very good!

I really like their bourbon but being such a small distillery it’s only available around the Sound. Another which is gaining more traction nationally is BSB by Heritage out of Gig Harbor (if you’re at all into flavored bourbons) TRO

I really like trying new/different styles of bourbons so that would be fun. Thanks for the tip!

Go to the tasting room and try all their spirits (and their bourbon barrel aged maple syrup) for $10 and if you decide to buy something from them you get $10 off (I think you can stack the tasting discounts toward a single bottle). It’s unfortunately not cheap stuff but certainly worth the drive and taste. It can be a complete drink day as not far from there in Woodinville is the red hook brewpub (they do a peanut butter porter which is really tasty), Chateau Ste Michelle and several smaller wineries. Apparently, that "tip" was provided by the guy with "tits" in Ohio...🙄😝 Don Pilar Añejo - about $30 @ Costco (if they have it) $40 and change @ BevMo. Tough to beat at that price. Don Pilar Extra Añejo - ~$150-160 for the more discerning tastes...

On the bright side, my local Costco had Tassos double stuffed Garlic and Jalapeño olives. Great addition for vodka or gin on the rocks.
