The sharks have the firepower to beat this team. Bingboy can stop the onslaught and Timo/Hertl/Pavs/LaBanc/Logan are all playing well. Burns and EK65 are having an ice time competition. The goon tactics did not work for the Blues and that should be a huge concern for them. Jones plays well again tonight and the Sharks win 4-2.

Dang, I was wondering if we had won a game 2 this playoffs at home. Don't like those odds! Still if they can do what they did in game 1 and keep it up, then I like our chances!

I dont expect a short series but IF San Jose can win this game all of the sudden game three is a must win situation for the Blues.

Have to catch the first hour of this one while "working" since my asshole job didn't bother to tell us last week that 10 hour minimums were going to continue this week. Thank god for working from home and having a boss that is in Georgia. Nothing will be completed between the hours of 6 and 7. Playoffs come first.

Game 1 the Sharks forced the Blues to repeatedly turn the puck over as they tried to get through the neutral zone. That exposed Bennington as a rookie goalie. Will the Blues figure out how to get through the neutral zone and can Bennington recover from his worst playoff performance on the biggest stage he has ever been on?
I think this game will be much closer but the Sharks still pull out the victory.

Anyone else notice that Paul Gackle at the Mercury News has basically disappeared? He hasn't worked on a story or sent out a tweet since April 13th. I wonder if it had anything to do with him pulling the old Bennington tweets from 5 or 6 years ago making jokes about people wearing Burkas?

He got buried when he tweeted that shit. Maybe the Merc canned his ass Sure seems like that is what happened. I have seen people ask the other Sharks guy at the Merc what happened on Twitter but there is never a response.

He got buried when he tweeted that shit. Maybe the Merc canned his ass So Gackle gets canned for pointing out a few stupid tweets someone else made? He has gone completely silent. He was very active on Twitter during the Vegas series until April 12th and hasn't sent out a tweet since.

Maybe he should wear a burka tonight. Has he even been asked about those tweets? He hasn't been seen in the last month I was more inferring someone questioning Bennington about his insensitive comments. I'm sure the Merc fired the reporter because they've been reducing the workforce for years now.

from Frank Seravalli of TSN,
Flash in the pan. Lightning in a bottle. Fifteen minutes of fame.
Some in the hockey world have whispered: Is Blues goalie Jordan Binnington the 2019 version of the Hamburglar?
They have held their breath, waiting for the moment to declare his Cinderella run dead after watching Andrew Hammond’s spectacular 2015 run with the Ottawa Senators fizzle out, that same form never to be regained again in the NHL.
Well, Binnington’s aura of invincibility was pierced again on Saturday night in the Shark Tank after allowing five goals to open the Western Conference final.
But those holding their breath might soon turn blue in the face. Binnington has been the Bounce Back Kid, responding to his first 10 losses in the NHL with an 8-2-0 record and .934 save percentage.
He’ll have to do it again in Game 2 on Monday night for the Blues to avoid falling into a 2-0 series hole, as St. Louis chases its first Stanley Cup final appearance since 1970.
“He’s been doing that all year,” coach Craig Berube said Sunday. “I think he’s got a calm head. He forgets about it and moves on. It wasn’t a great game for anybody. But you’ve got to move on, learn from it and make some corrections. He’ll do the same thing.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
from Robert Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun,
The St. Louis Blues played the classic “it’s not you, it’s me,” card so often Sunday, you’d swear they were breaking up with the San Jose Sharks and wanted to let them down easy.
The Blues spent most of their off-day media availability explaining how they had a major role in virtually every aspect of San Jose’s 6-3 victory in Game 1 of the Western Conference championship.
They are the reason San Jose scored five times in the first two periods. They are the reason San Jose feasted on all those turnovers. They are the reason goaltender Jorden Binnington looked uncharacteristically shaky. They are the reason they have fallen behind in a series for the first time in these playoffs.
“It was all self-inflicted,” began Blues coach Craig Berube, surrounded by a pack of reporters in the team’s hotel lobby. “They do a good job of hounding pucks and they’re tight on you, but it was self-inflicted on our part, turning pucks over at bad times.
“We didn’t have the puck enough and we had it we gave it back to them too easily.”
