Which roster decision did Marleau force? He made no bones about it, PM only wants to play in SJ and as we see he's engineered his path back to 'his' team like an NBAer (while getting Don Waddell to pay off his 3rd Leaf year for a 1st rounder) yea he'll probably play for Goodrow money, but now DW must find roster space for a 40 year old forward trying to boost personal records. Or maybe DW is thrilled If he hangs on to Roy at 63 why not Marleau at 40? I respect the hell out of marleau's career but personally I think he's playing one season too late. taking Marleau back compromises the kind of 19-20 season Sharks could have, IMO. I don't want Owen Nolan back at 47, either. I'm not sure what your complaint is. I would take Patty back at a 4th liners salary right now. I think most people would. Unless you are worried about Michael Haley's roster spot.

4y/6M for Meier. No UFA years taken in the term. Can't complain about it. . Good stuff. Given Pavs at 7 mil I'd take the 22 year old that has speed and physical presence and can keep growing as a consistent contributor. Yea it's tough saying good-bye to Pavelski but DW did invest the money in the right place.

Jumbo and Marleau $1M each for 3rd or 4th line roles. Lebanc $3.75M per and then you have some change left. I figure Labanc gets 4.5 or so. Agree 1 mil per the old guard. 6.5 million leaves just over 1 for Gambrell which shoild be fine (1 even) and you have 250k for Evader Kane to get his head straight in Vegas before next April.

Unless you are worried about Michael Haley's roster spot. My complaint is Marleau sucks at ANY price. Flyers just got a lot tougher through free agency, why can't the sharks? 12 won't hustle, he won't back-check hard like a 4th liner must do. He doesn't go nose first to the net. Mike Babcock knew PM was done. It fucks up Alex True, Ivan Chekhovich or somebody else getting a real shot at hustling into a roster spot. Shark roster takes a small step backwards, gets softer with DW providing Marleau an NHL farewell tour season.

I suspect you have Patty - Joe - Sorrenson on night one. Line 4 is still there for the young guys and most likely we see someome challenge for a mid 6 spot out of the rookies as Jumbo/Patty take some games down a line or scratched for their legs. I don't see the big issue. We just lost a 30 goal scorer and another young top 6 guy. It's not like you are going to find high end talent at that price point elsewhere.

Meier - Couture - Kane (I hope he can stick) Gaping Hole - Hertl - Labanc Marleau - Jumbo - Sorrenson Karlsson - Goodrow - (Gambrell or Cuda)
Soumela may be interesting if he's grown at all. I am not sure I like Labanc and Hertl but also not sure you continue to play him with Joe. Also I'd shy away from Patty in top 6 though we may have another of those situations where you run 3 sets of strong pairs up and down the line up.

DW should call Dubas and offer him Melker Karlsson for Kadri 1 for 1.
