I would like to see the Sharks finish their checks more. Laying down a clean hard hit has a huge role in this game and even more so in the postseason. I dont expect every guy to drop the gloves but every guy should be able to hit within the rules. Well at least we won't have Marleau out there gliding around and tapping opponent shin pads with this stick. I have an appitite for more hits this season, but I'd first like to see shark goaltending get to the .910 SV% mark. the physical stuff always looks better when you're winning. Like the guy in our old section used to yell out when Marleau was going into the corner to hit someone, He would yell out HIT WITH YOUR PURSE PATTY.  |

Friends (scouts) attending told me bottom line Fleury stopped the puck, Jones did not. Jones looked particularily bad on the first goal, flopping around. Like last season.
I'm not going to have much paitence with Shark goaltending this season. Jones probably our new whipping boy now that Braun packed for Philly. We're weak in goal.

Funny (actually scary, not funny) that Jones posted an .896 save % this game...I think that was his final number from last season. I said all off season that the Sharks were pissing into the wind with any trade/free agent signing talk if it didn’t solve the goalie issue. Sharks have no chance to be a true contender with that save percentage. Also, IMO, Braun was a shining star last year when compared to the turd Jones laid. |

Agree on the defense. I’ve said several times that the Sharks D is so offensively minded that they creat a large number of odd man rushes, turnovers, etc. so its not all Jones fault. However, a goalie thats in good position and seeing the puck well stops at least one, maybe two, of those defensive lapses...thats what good goalies do. |

I didn't get to watch the game so I could be wrong but just looking at the lineup of the two teams compared. The Knights had a lot of NHL regulars from last season and the Sharks had who? Cooter and Pickles? Labanc and M.Karl was there, but neither of those two are going to make and impact by themselves without the real roster. Granted I would like to see them put some wins up, at the end of the day its pre-season and none of it goes towards the season. |
