Aw man, Christina & kids already rode out of frosty TO. Kids back at SJ schools. Hey there’s no room at the SJ Inn for daddy. We get another swing at the SC next spring and DeBoer can’t take on a floater franchise icon just for cool times with local media.

Here’s an idea for Marleau - Kings are pathetic enough to actually need him next season, 2C behind 60 year old Kopitar. if Patty wants 82 more games to become #3 all-time in games played, let him pimp it out with the fucking LA Kings. We’ll see if he really has teal blood or just hockey blood.

Marleau's family already moved back to San Jose shortly after the season ended.  The Toronto house is on the market.

Marleau turned down the Sharks offer of 2 years before he signed with the Leafs now he comes back with his tail between his legs, NO THANK YOU.. Sharks need to get younger & more grit, not with a 40 year old softie.. Like a fan used to yell out when I had my season tickets, Hit him with your purse Patty

Details on expanded video review/coaches challenge/officiating modifications that have been approved by Competition Committee and today by NHL B of G are sketchy because GMs need to hear/sign off tomorrow in VAN, but here’s some of what we’re hearing:

Referees would be permitted to check their own work by viewing monitor at penalty box after they’ve assessed a major penalty or a double minor and, if necessary, amend/rescind or uphold the call.

Coaches challenge for video review would be expanded to include ability to challenge missed calls that lead to tainted goals — uncalled illegal hand pass (Meier to Karlsson); uncalled high-sticking of puck to a teammate; uncalled puck hitting the out-of-play protective netting.

Not 100 per cent certain of this but I believe a failed challenge in these instances would result in a minor penalty, same as the current rule for coaches’ challenge on offside. If so, that would limit volume of challenges and eliminate frivolous challenges.

Again, just a guess, but I would think these new video review challenge criteria would become an automatic review by Hockey Ops situation room if in final minute of a game or in overtime.

Nicholas J. Cotsonika with a review of today's BOG meeting,

"We have some very specific things that we'll be talking to the general managers about, seeking their input and hopefully ultimately their approval," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said after the Board of Governors met Wednesday.

Commissioner Bettman and NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly declined to give specifics until after the GMs meet.

"There will be a lot of specificity tomorrow," Daly said. "We have specific rules. We just have to get the language."

The Competition Committee recommended changes to the coach's challenge and expanded video review, including as it relates to a referee's ability to review some of his own calls on the ice.

The Competition Committee also recommended:

-- A player be reasonably required to leave the ice if his helmet comes off during play.

-- The defending team not be allowed to change lines when a goalie freezes the puck on a shot from outside the red line. The attacking team would have the choice of end-zone dot for the face-off.

-- The attacking team have the choice of end zone dot on a face-off after an icing and starting a power play.

-- The defending team not be allowed to change lines and the attacking team have the choice of end-zone dot for the face-off, if an official determines a skater on the defending team knocks off the net unintentionally.

-- All face-offs be at one of the two dots in the attacking zone when the attacking team is responsible for the puck going out of play in the attacking zone.

That would be some amazing magic to make Patty's $6m Cap hit just disappear.  everyone said that 3rd year the Leafs were willing to give PM would be a problem.   Boy we're we ALL right! 

Now that 3rd year is a problem for giving Mitch Marnier his big Leaf pay-day. Gets more interesting when Marleau demands it can only be untangled with him ending up back in SJ.   I wish he was that aggressive around opponents nets.   I don't see how Leafs can shed Patty's cap hit without giving up assets.  Sharks can't take it on, so a 3rd team needs to get involved. I foresee the Kings being stupid enough (Kovalchuk) to pick up Patty and his Donskoi level of production for $6m.   Patty can be a Southwest Airline commuter for a season if he still wants to push on the NHL record books.

I could see JT back 1yr deal at about $4m and worth every penny if his health stays.  Melker back on the opening night roster would -not- be a positive sign for off-season roster improvement. 

The only way Jumbo can get $5 mil is if Pavelski is allowed to walk.

May be the gritty option the Sharks need as 6-7th D.
