The current process is clearly flawed, but what would be better? Finding an answer means thinking about the purpose of presidential nominations, and about how the existing system falls short. It will require swimming against the tide of how we’ve thought about nominations for decades — as a contest between everyday voters and elites, or as a smaller version of a general election. A better primary system would empower elites to bargain and make decisions, instructed by voters.

No description of the perps as usual but I am willing to bet we all know: SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) A trio of suspects allegedly brandishing firearms and attempted to carjack three different motorists within 30 minutes of each other in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood early Thursday morning. The first carjacking attempt was reported at about 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Harrison and Ninth streets. At about 2:35 a.m., another carjacking was reported in the 300 block of Harrison Street. Another was reported at the intersection of Mission Street and Duboce Avenue at about 3 a.m., according to Officer Robert Rueca. It seems the comment section of SFGATE is out of touch with the publishers. Imagine that.... www.sfgate.com/news/bayarea/articleComments/Police-Investigating-3-Attempted-Carjackings-15070577.php

The madness of the left on full display. Will the so called media as each candidate where they stand on this? Nope.
Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren on Thursday decried an Arizona bill that would prevent biological males from competing in girls sports, calling the legislation “cruel.”
“Trans athletes are not a threat,” Warren wrote in a tweet. “We need to protect trans kids—and all LGBTQ+ kids—and ensure they feel safe and welcomed at school. I urge the Arizona legislature to reject this cruel bill.”
The “Save Women’s Sports Act” would assign high-school students to interscholastic and intramural leagues by their “biological sex” rather than the gender with which they identify, grouping biological females together and likewise for biological males.

So I watch the DNC debate and these are my quick observations.
It was almost an organized attack on Bloomberg even though Bernie is the front runner. As much as they all said the goal is to unseat Trump they went after each other. Having them all raise their hands to their media masters hoping to get a few seconds of air time made them all look weak. The DNC should reconsider this. Now to the candidates.
Bernie looked like a crazed old man. He pounded on corporate corruption, healthcare for all. He did stay on his message. Give the guy credit he does not try to deceive you on where he stands.
Mayor Pete, put himself out as a person who can unite. He says he is the candidate that can attract moderate republicans and put past the hard partisanship we now see. He is a very good speaker and does not speak with anger. Ahain used the line the only non millionaire/billionaire running and only has one house.
Pochantis came off as very angry and pandered to POC and woman and every possible turn. I wonder if she knows she will need some straight white males to vote for her. In her closing statement she used the word fight over and over to the point it was stupid. She wants to put big oil execs in jail.
Biden had a pretty good night. No major mistakes and looked pretty good. He two separate times told the story of his father losing his job hen he was a boy and having to move. He clearly wants people to think he feels their pain. Used his record as VP to his advantage.
Bloomberg looked stunned when he defended making money and reminded people that he is giving it all away. Had to play mostly on the defensive but did point out that the reason he is running is that this country wont elect radical left. Had to defend stop and frisk and took major heat for that. He tried to say that crime was out of control but you could tell with this crowd that would not fly so he did not continue this defense.
Amy tried to say her experience is why she should be the one but given that Biden has more she is squeezed out for much of the debate. She did get flustered a couple of times and took some things personal when it is just normal debate jabs. She needs to work on her one message to stand out. If she has one it was not clear.

In a stunning show of power, the Oakland Police Commission — a group of civilians — voted unanimously Thursday night to fire Oakland Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick without cause, an action that caught many city leaders by surprise.
The firing required approval from Mayor Libby Schaaf, who hired the chief three years ago. Moments after the commission’s vote, Schaaf phoned Kirkpatrick to inform her that she was out of the job.
The decision followed a long-simmering tension between the chief and the commission, which was created by a voter-approved ballot initiative in 2016 that aimed to rebuild trust between officers and their community.

This is why the Oakland police chief was fired:
Police said that they asked Pawlik to put the gun down. He didn't and police opened fire. Following the shooting, police said the officers believed Pawlik was an "immediate threat" and they were at risk of serious bodily harm or death. Police said they recovered a gun that Pawlik may have been holding.
Pawlik was reportedly carrying a pistol and a substantial amount of cocaine when the Oakland police surrounded and shot him. And then there was the money — around $110,000 — in his backpack. Rumors have circulated on the streets about why Pawlik ended up in West Oakland armed and carrying a small fortune, but the rumors conflict with the soft reputation Pawlik had among his friends.

Now how and why he had 110K$ in his backpack as well as a gun is a fair question.

If you are a fan of arresting someone for offensive speech your day has come: HARTFORD, Conn. — Free speech concerns that were raised following the arrests of two University of Connecticut students accused of saying a racial slur have led state legislators to consider repealing a century-old law that bans ridicule based on race, religion or nationality. The episode on campus involving two white students in October was recorded on video and sparked protests against racism. Many people applauded their arrests, but civil liberties groups condemned them as an affront to First Amendment rights. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/uconn-students-arrest-over-racial-slur-prompts-review-state-s-n1140441But be careful what you wish for.... Douglas Spencer, a UConn law professor, added the state ridicule law, in theory, could be used to arrest comedians who make fun of others. “I don’t think the old statute would survive a constitutional challenge,” Spencer said. The hard left has an answer for this. They would set up and appoint a hate speech commission and we all know who would be found guilty on that commission. This is part of the ugly militant hard left that you did get a glimpse of in the recent debate. They must be stopped on election night.

I’m going to vote for Bernie next week! I’m a registered independent so I can choose which primary to vote in. I figure the better Bernie does here the more likely he gets the nomination. Then, hopefully I’m right that people will reject a socialist in the general election in November At this point I think I’ll not vote in November. There’s no current dem candidate I’d vote for and President Trump is too rude and contentious for me to attach my vote to. Same as last election...my vote didn’t matter in California because of all the libs; now I live in a state where my vote doesn’t matter because of all the conservatives

For the dessert:
P.S. I won't be eligible to vote yet.

P.S. I won't be eligible to vote yet. 1) You’re right..but I’ll take one for the team because I think it will help President Trump in November. I think he has a better chance against Bernie than an alleged moderate like Biden or Bloomberg. 2) Right again, politeness isn’t a requirement for POTUS but it is to get my vote. 3) President Trump is so strong in South Carolina that the Reps here are not even having a primary...they say its a waste of time and money, so he doesn’t need my vote. In November, if its Sanders vs. President Trump, he has zero chance in South Carolina...socialism is a dirty word here. So my vote won’t count as President Trump will get South Carolinas electoral college votes. If its someone who may have a chance here then I’ll re-think my strategy. 4) No idea, but it won’t apply to me either way. When do you get to start voting?

The so called community California police say a dispute over a rental agreement led a 20-year-old woman and her teenage boyfriend to kill three people.
“This is a tragic, horrific incident,” Hemet Police Chief Eddie Pust told a news conference Friday.
He said the murders happened Wednesday in a Hemet home belonging to one of the victims, Wendy Lopez-Araiza, 46.
Her daughter Genesis Lopez-Araiza, 21, was also murdered. The third victim was Trinity Clyde, 18.

It applies to everyone because if you get Trump the popular vote victory that will force these blue states to cast Republican ballot, and that alone is worth going to the voting place.
I will hopefully get my citizenship in the early 2022.

I want to see California explaining how they're going to avoid their own legislation. The legislation in each state is dormant until enough states sign on that represent 270 electoral college votes. Until that happens the law that California passed means nothing. Each individual state understands/agrees to this in advance, so why would there be anything to avoid and/or explain? Its a moot point...or at best a hypothetical “what if?”

Maybe it’s because I registered independent in CA (WA doesn’t care how you registered - everyone in the county gets the same ballot). TRO

I wonder if the so called community will report on this story.
A man charged with raping an 11-year-old girl in Maryland was living in the United States illegally, authorities said.
Jonathan Coreas-Salamanca, 20, was arrested along with Ivan Reyes Lopez, 19, earlier this month at the high schools they attended in Montgomery County, Md., WJLA-TV reported. Both men are charged with second-degree rape.
