EDMONTON (Sept. 7, 2020) – Ottawa Senators forward Bobby Ryan is the 2019-20 recipient of the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL player who “best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.” The award was presented by the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PHWA) to honor the late Bill Masterton, a player for the Minnesota North Stars who exhibited those qualities. Masterton died on Jan. 15, 1968, as a result of an on-ice injury.

I'm surprised these two awards didn't go to the blacks.

More cardiologist testing today. I am thinking it went well. I mean, the nurse didn’t tell anyone to call a priest so I am taking that as a good sign. Did they stress test you? Hadn’t seen this to respond. I did a treadmill stress test and had to do it wearing a mask so shockingly I ran into some breathing issues. They did a chemical stress test after that and I had no issues at all. They are now leaning towards the issue being pleurisy which is being aggravated by all the smoke we are having. I know a couple of people who have had to evacuate their homes because of the Creek Fire. That one is going to burn a long time because the forrest is loaded with dead trees because of the bark beetle.

Breathing issues suck when you're breathing all of that smoke. Get well eh

Didn’t think about it until I read about it in an Athletic article about how well the Lightning are doing without Stamkos, how he doesn’t really feel like the face of the franchise given how much (critical) time he’s missed, and how much cap space they’ll need to resign their new stars. Moving on from Stammer might be the most logical move.

Has Stamkos waived his NMC yet? Stranger things have happened. He gave Tampa such a huge discount that the only way I see him getting out is through a buy-out and re-sign. He had 98 points just last season.

Why would they buy him out? They could no doubt find a taker if Stamkos waives his NMC. If Stamkos won’t waive, then that’s that but they’ll probably wind up losing one of their younger stars and with his injury history and now 30, probably not the preferred outcome.

Oh, if he waives, no doubt there would be about 25 takers. But what I am saying is that if he agrees to waive it might be for a buyout only. Then he can re-sign a 7x5 and still earn more money than before.
