Pavs made much sense for a team wanting to make a legit deep run and go for broke. He has been a clutch player, can win in the circle and get dirty goals. He rarely make bonehead mistakes and his heart cant be questioned. Good for him in his quest. Yeah a guy that scored 38 goals, played on the top line and continues to play on a top line with a different team... definitely trash. He has been playing second line for Dallas in the postseason for the most part. He has definitely made his presence known. Goodrow has been getting good playing time for the Bolts as well. One of these former sharks has an excellent chance to hoist the cup.

With all my objections to signing Karlsson, I think letting Pavelski go was a solid, logic decision. His production during the regular season wasn't worth even a hometown discount. Instead, the Sharks should've traded the rights to both for a 2nd pair d-man, a top-6 winger and a 3rd line center. Should've gotten that easily to fit within $13.5M of cap space (discard Jumbo as well). Could've unloaded Melker Karlsson and Aaron Dell on the way as well. Pavs made much sense for a team wanting to make a legit deep run and go for broke. He has been a clutch player, can win in the circle and get dirty goals. He rarely make bonehead mistakes and his heart cant be questioned. Good for him in his quest. Agree...but I also agree with CJ that he wasn’t a fit for the Sharks right now. He’s done well in Dallas...a team with way more talent than the Sharks. No way he has the same season in San Jose. Sharks forwards have to think defense more than most teams due to having to cover for Burns and the generally poor defensive play. An old slow guy isn’t really a good fit for that system.

No matter who makes it out the east it’s going to be a pretty stylish SCF with those Dallas greens.

Washington Capitals to hire Peter Laviolette as their new head coach.
Where the fuck is Doug Wilson and what is he doing to fix his disaster of a team. Probably giving Joe Thornton a contract extension

No, no team has a place for a guy tho is super smart, hardworking and has some tremendous, unique skills that he has been able to deploy consistently to fantastic contribution even without being a great skater. And who deserved a substantial contract as a dollar cost average remuneration for being one of the two most consistent high-level contributors on the team over the past 10+ years. Of course the offensive thing is that Pavelski didn't get the respect he deserves because Wilson wanted the money to sign one of the most laughably bad contracts in the history of the league to cripple the team for a decade securing the services of a guy whose first year with the team was so weak it could be argued he was a bad value at league minimum for a year. Still, I am so glad Pavelski is no longer saddled with those losers. I do hope he gets to take the SC home with him in the week or two the league has planned between the seasons (and that it doesn't get destroyed in a riot while it is there). And that when Burns and Karlsson are gone, the Sharks become a fun team to watch again.

It's nice to see Pavs stepping up big in the playoffs again. He usually did for the Sharks and it did hurt to see him go (to Dallas no less). Wonder how much can be attributed to that nice months-long break before the playoffs. Does he find this extra gear going a full 82 and then to the playoffs? Fair question for a 36 year old who's production dropped off huge this year.
And let's be real. If DW resigned Pavs and he had the season he had, the Sharks still miss the playoffs and we're all complaining that Wilson won't turn the team over and stuck with an aging star who's trending in the wrong direction.
Can't argue though that Karlsson's extension will almost assuredly sink this team. Only hope is that he finds in 2017 all-world form and Wilson can work some trade magic to patch up the glaring holes on the roster. Sadly I think I have more faith in the latter than the former and that ain't saying much.

Sadly I think I have more faith in the latter than the former and that ain't saying much. Dallas is playing him second line. That is a very expensive player for that spot and his regular season was not great this year. He has stepped up in the postseason but the wear and tear may very well make year two and three look smart for DW. For sure the long rest and short season should be a huge help for him and other vets but he really needed it. If they hoist the cup this year it is well worth it for Dallas. First time in the finals in 20 years and Pavs is a factor in this.

I'd assume the trades will really flow after the SC is awarded. Granted E. Staal could help the sharks but not at that price point. I do think it was dirty of old Billy to do that to Staal, and to send him of all places.

Hasso is the one that needs to make the first trade/move.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired left wing Marcus Johansson from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for center Eric Staal.
Johansson, 29 (10/6/90), recorded 30 points (9-21=30) and averaged 17:07 in TOI/game in 60 contests with the Buffalo Sabres this season serving as an alternate captain. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Landskrona, Sweden, recorded an assist in his 600th career NHL game on Oct. 24 at the New York Rangers. Johansson owns 364 points (129-235=364) in 648 career NHL games during 10 seasons with the Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres (2010-20). He has also collected 41 points (13-28=41) in 94 career Stanley Cup Playoff matches. Johansson has played for Sweden in five international tournaments including the 2014 Winter Olympics. He was selected by Washington in the first round (24th overall) of 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Staal, 35 (10/29/84), recorded 47 points (19-28=47) in 66 games with Minnesota this season. He was signed as a free agent by the Wild on July 1, 2016, and owns 1,021 points in 1,240 career NHL contests with Carolina, the New York Rangers and Minnesota.

Blacks make up ~13% of the US population so it makes sense they would make up ~13% of NHL fan base. What is the issue here?
