I have a feeling Goodrow is going to get the series clincher, just like he did when he scored arguably the biggest goal in Sharks history! I thought that too, Goodie playing real good tonight Not yet

Interesting take I heard on 31 Thoughts podcast. Talking about Boughner’s hire and the conversation turned to the Sharks offseason. Made it sound like there was a handshake deal between Wilson and Labanc on a contract extension after Labanc doing Wilson a solid last year. Obviously a lot has happened since.
If anybody’s got 20 minutes it’s a good listen.

Sounds like Rocky Thompson is a good pick up as well (haven't followed him). If Lebanc was smart, he would do another small bridge deal this year otherwise what ever contract he signs will almost definitely expose him in the Kraken draft.

On a back to back game two of the oldest players step up big also two most recent puzzle pieces that were added. Nill & Bowness have engineered some good chemistry in D. Heskinen will likely be a Norris trophy guy someday.. another angle into the wonderment of if DW now makes things seem stale in SJ..

I don’t think Boughner is the problem but I do think Laviolette would’ve been good based off how his teams usually play. They mentioned too that they wanted Boughner because they felt all the problems with the team were internal. It was a broken team and they liked the idea of a guy who had inside knowledge of it. Makes sense and that’s before you consider the money factor. I’m sure the bigger names command bigger salaries and that matters more now.

Bough is the safer bet than having a new coach come in with a my way or highway and fractures the team more. I'd bet though if DW went to Hasso and said we need X coach he would find the money. This brings me to my next point... I wonder who was the problem(s) in the locker room? Aside from the injury bug hitting the top 6 stupid heavy, who was the "co-workers".

NBC Sports BayArea Sharks have 'green light' to spend to NHL salary cap in 2020 offseason Alex Didion Sat, September 26, 2020, 5:07 PM PDT
Sharks have 'green light' to spend to offseason salary cap originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
The 2019-20 season didn’t work out ideally for the Sharks. After coming just a few games short of a berth in the Stanley Cup Final the previous postseason, the Sharks finished at the bottom of the Pacific Division standings, and missed out on the NHL’s playoff bubble.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the NHL’s season, the salary cap will be frozen at $81.5 million for the 2020-21 season, instead of the typical gradual increases mandated in the league’s collective bargaining agreement. With many teams expecting revenue losses as a result of lost games and not having spectators at any of this year’s playoff games, some organizations might be less willing to spend their entire cap allotment.
But in speaking to the media this week, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson explained that San Jose won’t be limiting spending this offseason.
“We’re very fortunate that we have an owner that allows us to do that,” Wilson said. “It’s not just on the hockey team, building rinks, taking care of our Barracuda team, the importance of developing your young players, having an environment that does that. So it also gives us an ability to do that.
“Going to the cap is something we have the green light to do.”
Joe Thornton, Melker Karlsson and Aaron Dell are among the players with contracts expiring this offseason. Thornton is a franchise icon and is the most likely to return, especially since he probably would be willing to take a team-friendly deal in his age-41 season.
With Bob Boughner officially taking over as the Sharks’ head coach, Wilson will be expected to put a competitive team on the ice after missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
San Jose should be aggressive both in retaining most of the team's potential free agents, but also going out and finding some players on valuable contracts who can contribute right away.

When you got space and not many major holes to fill this can be a great offseason for you. Lot of teams will be up against it one way or another and there’ll likely be moves that get made that teams are forced to make. Bad if your team being forced, not bad if your team taking advantage. Sharks can be in the latter category.
If Wilson has one thing to his name it’s his ability to swing big trades.

If Wilson can fill the holes and get the defense straightened out they might have a chance next season. The worrisome part is this so called problem in the locker room that rumors are floating about. Is it a player, some players thinking they aren't being used like they think they should. Or is it Couture being the captain and other players thinking about that. It should be a different type of off-season this time. Plus the Kraken player draft and who do the Sharks protect.

Wilson can pull of a trade for sure but I dont think you can trade your way out of this one. The Sharks have two players that most teams would want and they are in this order: Logan Evander I dont see them getting much back for any other player. Burns is getting old, Hertl has been injury prone and Timo shit the bed after being given a good contract. This is a painful view: www.capfriendly.com/teams/sharks

When he is on his game he is awesome but when he puts forth a lackluster effort, he isn't worth dick. I would have to say the Defense is the largest problem right now (I also have no idea how to start to fix it). Trade a big name/trade for a player to play next to a big name/get a trusty 3rd pair? I would go out on the limb and bet if the defense is figured out (EK65 playing more than half a season) that Jones' problems might mostly disappear? That would then leave a couple players to fill out the forward spots but with the little cash available DW can probably pick up some decent players.

Barclay Goodrow wins a Stanley Cup before Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, and Joe Pavelski.
No offense to Barclay, but man....
