Guppies need a tom wilson Ryan reaves type...been saying this for years. Too soft Yeah. It's the lack of Tom Wilson or Ryan Reaves causing Erik Karlsson to go -4 against the worst team in the NHL. It's the lack of Tom Wilson or Ryan Reaves causing the 5v4 PP go stale against the PK of the worst team in the NHL. It's the lack of Tom Wilson or Ryan Reaves causing the team get 1 total point in 4 games against Buffalo, Toronto and Ottawa.
Owen Nolan or even Eric Lindros wouldn't help this team at this point.
Fire PDB, and calmly ask EK65 to waive the NTC and trade him to fill the holes in the roster. If EK65 declines, he rides the pine until he agrees. He's -11 with 5 EV points.

Agree. A Wilson/Reaves type would not make the Sharks much, if any, better...more fun to watch, but not any better.

I mean, EK65, Melker and Dell for Brock Nelson, Derrick Brassard, Ryan Pulock and Thomas Greiss?

Need is a strong word but if you don’t think a Tom Wilson would do wonders for this team I really don’t know what you’ve been watching. They are too soft to play against.
Many people in and around the league believe there is zero chance the Capitals win a cup without Wilson and what he did for that team went far beyond throwing some hits and fighting. He changed their identity. Add to that he can score goals and not look out of place with Backstrom, Ovechkin, and Kuznetsov and you have a true diamond of a hockey player.
Moreover though DeBoer should probably be fired. This team has just plain underperformed and you can’t fire players. Things feel stale.

The Caps were a far better overall team and theres no way to compare that situation to the mess that is the 2019 Sharks. I agree a guy like Wilson can help lead a team like that Caps team to the cup. I don’t think one guy, Wilson or not, can help this team. Their issues run far deeper than a one man fix.

I can see how Tom Wilson can help this team somewhat against Vegas and STL. I cannot see how Tom Wilson can help this team against Buffalo, Toronto and Ottawa.
As for doing wonders, as I said, Eric Lindros wouldn't do wonders with the way things seem to be running now.

PDB should of sat EK65 in the third for shitty play. -3 after 2 periods. Pathetic.

I mean, EK65, Melker and Dell for Brock Nelson, Derrick Brassard, Ryan Pulock and Thomas Greiss? I'm a Islander fan & I don't think Lou is that stupid to take on EK65 contract & give up Greiss who is better then Dell, You hear that DW you can't even keep a good backup goalie

In 2016-17 Karlsson played 96 regular season & playoff games for the Sens. It was his best and most complete season in the NHL. 71 regular season points, along with 18 in playoffs. He should have won the Norris, and Conn Smythe had the Sens reached the finals.
Karlsson also put his career and future earnings on the line, playing badly injured during the long playoff run. Physically he has never recovered, and that dynamic first step is long gone. Luckily for him the Sharks stepped up and handed out the 8 year, 92 million dollar deal.
Karlsson still has the elite sense & skill, but the lack of natural size and injuries show a player past his prime, and certainly on decline. Not a guy who can play 27 minutes/all situations. Sharks D overall is in big trouble, and this club will be lucky to make the playoffs.

C'mon gang.. let's not start writing the 19/20 season eulogy before fucking Halloween. Have some stones, all seasons have valleys and peaks. Adjustments can be made, players can get hot, 5-man PDB systems can fall into place.. Lots of doom and gloom above. Not a great start, but it's still early. Suck it up, man!

I didn’t watch the game. Was busy and recorded it. Driving to work this morning they were calling out Karlsson for his play saying it looked like he didn’t even care. Not making the effort to get into position to block guys out.
They also called out Jones and Dell for once again putting up the same substandard goals against average as last year. This team is a fucking mess.

Summer 2017, when he signed his 6 year deal. guess the crease can be a distracting place when youre trying to design a custom home in North Vancouver.

Ah, finally figured out why you hold your fkn hockey stick liike a pooper-scooper out on the ice.. Well, let's do the math here, shall we? I haven't picked up a hockey stick in 23 months. I've had the shit picker for seven months. So Nellie the fattard is only off by at least 16 months in his "reasoning" in this instance. Doofus...

People aren’t going to step out of the way for the Sharks and their division is no cakewalk anyway. Another couple weeks of this and the hole they’re digging might be too deep no matter how much season is left. Also they’re showing serious flaws and there doesn’t seem to be any signs of them rectifying soon. I mean getting the 40 year old, out of hockey, guy on a league minimum contract was such a difference maker and there is no way that inspires confidence. Even worse he’s a way better option than what they had. Almost all the big guns are shooting blanks right now and the goaltending situation doesn’t look like it’s improved much from last year’s dismal performance. I want to have hope but beyond all of those problems there just isn’t any juice to this team. The team defense is atrocious, they give the puck up regularly, and there’s no groove or creativity offensively. For all the star power at the top of the lineup there are serious depth issues. I don’t hate DeBoer but if this team can’t get going soon he’s going to have to go and probably will because this team is failing expectations in spectacular fashion.

The team's defense hasn't been good in a long time. It's now even more exposed because the goaltending has been far less than stelllar. This goes beyond DeBoer because the poor D-zone play extends past DeBoer's tenure here. Wilson and his scouting staff are the root of the problem. While it's likely, given the team's current trend, that DeBoer takes the fall. That alone won't solve the problem.
