Blues beating the Jets 1-0 If only the Sharks had Someone like Binnington. As I say that the Jets score! Game tied 1-1 Bennington's save % isn't all that at .880 so, while it's an improvement over Jones' sv%, that's not enough to make a 'winning' difference for the Sharks. Jones has obviously been less than stellar. That's a huge problem because the Sharks "team" defense is predicated on having stellar goaltending. When the stellar goaltending is absent, the "team" defense is exposed as what it really is, shit.

His lifetime save % is .926 albeit 1/2 of Season. His playoff save% before Yesterdays game was the same. Some of the saves he's making are unbelievable, pretty much the polar opposite of what we say about Jones!Yes Binnington would make a big difference in San Jose!! Your first line says it all his .880 is better then Jones. Lol imagine if Jones save % was .926 for the Season where we would be. Not playing the Golden Showers in the first round. The Sharks had a chance to not be in this position, but decided to lose 8 straight when the games mattered most.

The Sharks excel at winning when the games don’t matter much (yes, I understand all points count but some games are obviously more important than others) and folding like lawn chairs when it gets serious. They were basically unbeatable until they had to win a few games to clinch the division; what do they do...lose several games in a row and Calgary clinches. This lack of toughness, grit, heart...whatever you want to call it is why I picked Vegas in five games in the prediction game. I hope I end up being wrong and I’ll always root for the Sharks...but no one who seriously follows this team should be surprised by this.

There are four current Sharks players that have been around for the post lockout playoff debacles. The debacles I speak of are: Presidents Trophy Reverse Sweep and well over a decade of poor postseason showings Vlassic, Braun, Pavelski and Thorton Yes the Sharks did go to the finals one time and that was a great run but ultimately they have failed despite having great regular season campaigns and these four have been around for all of it.

I'm not about pinning all the blame on a goalie. Dell's stats suck too. The stats don't reflect second and third opportunities. The stats don't reflect the quality of those opportunities. It would be incredibly difficult to quantify those things as they're very subjective. A team's defense can't rely almost entirely on a goaltender. As I've said a million times before, the Sharks "team defense" requires stellar goaltending. Obviously, they're not getting that but whose fault is that really? The Sharks have no shot, and will not ever have a shot, to win a Cup with the "system" of defense they currently employ. If Trump were coaching this team he'd demand that a wall was built at their blueline because the Sharks let everybody in.

via the Philadelphia Flyers,
The Philadelphia Flyers have appointed Alain Vigneault as the 21st head coach in franchise history, signing him to a multi-year contract, according to Executive Vice President & General Manager Chuck Fletcher.
"We are extremely excited to have Alain join this franchise and lead our team behind the bench for many years to come," said Fletcher. "He brings a tremendous amount of success over an extended period of time that will prove valuable to our team to take the next steps in returning the winning culture to the Philadelphia Flyers organization."
"It is an honor to be selected as the next head coach of the Flyers," said Vigneault. "The history they have established and the passionate fan base has made this a first-class franchise. I am excited to work with Chuck, the talented group of players and prospects coming up through the system, in order to return Philadelphia to the top of the NHL landscape."

The refs let Boston goon up the entire game. This guys responds with clearly a illegal hit. Yes he has to be suspended but the refs are responsible for this.

While I agree with team defense being a big factor, you can not deny the fact that a more capable goaltender would have this team going in a different direction. I don't blame Jones for all of it, but like I said before a couple key saves a game would have made a big difference. I saw a stat where Jones gave up 18 goals on breakaways, I'm not sure how many breakaways total there was I'm guessing 30. It's horrible when the opposing team is coming down the ice on a breakaway and you know they're going to score.

Bad D and bad goalie play cant win against good teams.

The Sharks are stuck with Jones because the GM is a fucking moron. The team has shitty team defense because the GM is a fucking moron. The team is perennially playoff fodder because the GM is a fucking moron. But yeah, blame the goalie because he gets little to no help. Well, like I said, they're stuck with him. Maybe the wise thing to do is get him some fucking help. That starts with the fucking moron GM...
