Definitely an interesting perspective. I would like to see the majors sent out. Dont know about the coach suspension, but they are all fresh ideas that should get a good look. I didn't watch any Blues games before the conference final, but I doubt they all of a sudden decided to head hunt against the sharks. I'm sure they have been doing it since day one of the post season.

But there have been too many hits to the head by the Blues for this to be a coincidence, a rogue player, or a series of accidents. This seems more like a strategy - sort of like breaking an arms treaty: The other side thinks a certain weapon is not longer available, so they're severely disadvantaged when the other side breaks the treaty and uses that weapon.

He raises some interesting points and there does seem to an overriding theme i nto how the Blues play, particularly their checking forwards, Sundqvist, Blais, Barbashev, etc.
However pretending like the Bruins are only victims is laughable. Employ the king of all cheapshot artists and plenty of others. Was Krug taking a 100 foot run at a guy worth a penalty? How about Marchand punching a guy in the back of the head when the game was over? What about McAvoy's headshot on Anderson? Where was this article then? Both these teams are dirty and I can't wait for this series to be over.

But I think my complaint about the Blues is more centered on the fact that they only advanced in the series against the Sharks because they went head hunting. When only one of the two teams is systematically breaking the rules, that's just called "cheating." Yes, pushing the limits is part of the sport, but their tactics are dangerous and it produced an unfair advantage in the series. I don't give a squirt of piss about Boston.

I like his idea of a 5 minute no-release major for making contact to the head on any body check. That would eventually make for more thinking/positioning on body contact. Both teams are down to the end and trying anything for final wins including playing the body every shift. What some see as dirty hockey I see as desperate hockey. Clearly both teams instructed to play the body to slow down opponents, but they’re going so fast and space is so limited on NHL ice bad collisions happen. ‘5 Min Hit to the Head’ penalties would likely help these prime athletes re-think how they get in their bumps each shift.

The league obviously is letting a lot of it go. During the Sharks-Blues series I just assumed that the officials weren't willing to give the sharks the benefit of any more calls, and to some degree I'm sure that was true even if only subconsciously. But even just calling roughing penalties would be an improvement over the way its being handled right now.

Some teams play far rougher than others. Burns was by far the hardest hitter the Sharks had in the postseason and he did hurt guys but he did so via clean legal hits. I am fine playing on the edge of the rules and I get that sometimes you may go over the line but the Blues and the Bruins are perhaps two of the most over the line teams (maybe Vegas as well) and teams need to wake up to this reality. I think the Blues beat the Sharks without head hunting as this team was so badly injured before the postseason started and completely wrecked following the Vegas series. Colorado needs to take a long look at their team makeup too.

The only satisfaction I’m getting in watching this series is watching Boston get some of their own medicine.

Yes, I agree... I wouldn't think a Coach would intentionally instruct head hunting but there were far too many incidences with more than a just a single player or two that it cannot be just "coincidence".

You could put Perry, Pronger and Theo Fleury in a boat and send off to nowhere and I wouldn't lose any sleep. Maybe Belfour too. Who am I missing? Oh yeah Soupy.

Bruins win tonight. Then game 7 goes Double OT with the Blues winning on a PP goal with Kelly Sutherland calling another bonehead call
