My problem with the Inland Empire were California jurisdiction, too hot summers and mediocre to lousy schools. The latter isn't a problem for you in any form. 700K in Columbus is Danville-quality schools.
Your house in Ohio cost $700k? Ohio is getting expensive. I hope that house is on a lakefront at least.

Your house in Ohio cost $700k? Ohio is getting expensive. Yes, it does, and yes, it does. But a similar house on a similar lot in a similar neighborhood with similar schools here - 2.5-3 times more.

I wish y’all a speedy/successful escape from California. IMO, you’re giving your children a much brighter future by leaving now. I never paid much attention to how dramatic the differences in home prices are around the country until we moved; its almost unbelievable at times. We had a rural, 1,500sqft. home on 1.8 acres, no cable TV or internet other than satellite, in Sonoma County that went for $850k. Our house here (not trying to gloat, just pointing out the radical difference)...4,000sqft custom home with a shed, shop, basement game room, on six acres with a pond and creek, two choices for gig speed internet/cable TV, power/cable lines underground...$440k. And the government services/infrastructure is way better here than Sonoma County.

I still see him around town...and I always buy him a drink

When this all started my nephew and his wife went to their house at Lake Tulloch to work from home and never looked back. I know you must like not having to deal with the commute every day Working from home works fine for me. F any commute. As a person who cannot work from home. The commute into SF is about the same for me, but getting out of that shit hole is a lot nicer now. Although it is getting busier every week. There are a lot of companies that said they are thinking of letting the employees continue to work from home. I think for some people that will work out great for them but there will be a lot of people that will take advantage of that situation and not get as much done and not work as hard since nobody's looking over their shoulder.

So you all will love this - I was at work yesterday and the AC repair comes out to the house (wife was home).
At first (the day before) since we were doing everything through home warranty, we noticed that the company they recommended had closed! I call the HW and of course it's outsourced (huzzah america! when the company is called First American Home Warranty!).
Anyway they double checked that they are still taking calls and doing work. Yelp reviews on them not so kind. So I was worried a bit since I would not be at the house.
Guy came and fixed the AC as it is quite a newer unit.
Here's the part you will love! So to get the AC working and blowing air and cold air again. He just unplugged and plugged it back in!
So 75.00 dollars for something I could've done myself. I mean we flipped the circuit breakers back and forth 2 days before this. But now you had o unplug the furnace part.
Anyway haircut next Saturday Mother Fuckers! - in the voice of Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty

Hey Red, how you doing, nice to read you here Do you still talk to Joey C? I’ve been thinking of him regarding the Santa Cruz sergeant who was ambushed and killed. SCCSO is a small department so I assume he knew him pretty well since they were both sergeants. If you do talk to him, tell him I said howdy and how sorry I am about that.

Yup, Galt to the shit hole, its 90 miles going the back way thru Walnut Grove, Isleton. It cost me just over 30 bucks every two days I get around 35 mpg. We start at 5 and off at 1 so I'm usually home by 2:30ish. So I miss most of the major traffic when I get off.

And not even in our house a full year and the AC isn't working? Right when the heat wave is about to start! unit is fairly new 2015 maybe 2012 we think Lennox brand. Compression fan outside turns on, no air cold or not blowing through vents. Replaced air filter already and reset circuit breaker and still nothing. So through home warranty someone will be out here tomorrow. Just when I have to go into the office. (how convenient). Wife will be here so hopefully they don't screw with her since she takes no lip from no one! lol. At least it should be only 75.00 bucks and rest covered under warranty. We think it might be a fuse but need to make sure. So indoor fans are running now! huzzah home ownership! Our rental here has a brand new Lennox. Thing is weak as balls compared to the American Standard we had in AZ.

Working from home works fine for me. F any commute. I think a lot of people that used to commute will continue working from home in the future. Screw the days of 100 drones working in the same office wasting time and company money I sleep in until about 40 minutes before clock in time. Check in unshowered and often in my boxers. Take the morning dump and shower sometime around 10:30, meetings permitting. I don't want to go back.

But SC PD by and large was a fucking top notch group of people. Given that they are dealing with a 25k student population, drugged out beach hippies, douche nozzle thugs from SJ, they handled everybody pretty fairly and honestly. Didn't go out of their way for an arrest or charge but would talk to people and disperse when needed. I really wish more of the departments across the country had similar culture to the guys in SC.

It's worse in my backyard as it's total southern exposure. Hot AF! Measured 125 in the California room last summer. That thermometer broke... Fortunately, there's a greenbelt behind my house so when the breeze kicks up, it flows freely through there. The weather has been weird AF this year. It was 100 two days ago, low 70's today...rained hard for about 5 minutes this afternoon and cleared up soon after. Last June it was pretty much hot AF for the whole month.🤷🏻♂️

You didn't have to preface that with the lefty disclaimer! You're a kid that went to school at UCSC. We know!😝 Anyway, I concur on SCPD. I've had a few interactions with them. One could've been really bad. I mean REALLY bad. Some tweaking, drugged out, shaky mother fucker pulled a knife on me while I was retrieving something from my car. I kept a nunchaku in the map pocket of the passenger seat. Dude never saw it coming. Needless to say, the cops figured out that I might have had something to do with the unconscious dude they found crumped up against my car and the sticks laying on the seat in plain view. They showed up at the bonfire and asked about me by name and everybody looked at me FFS... The cops listened to me, believed the story because the math added up and didn't arrest me. They did take the sticks though. I started to bitch and the look I got said STFU while you're ahead. I STFU and went back to the bonfire.
