SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@sanjosesharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has completed two trades this morning that will bring defenseman Christian Jaros to San Jose. In the first trade, the Sharks have sent D Trevor Carrick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for F Jack Kopacka.
In the second trade, San Jose sent Kopacka and San Jose's own seventh-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Jaros."Christian is a big right-shot defenseman who plays a physical game," said Wilson. "He is a young player with 76 games of NHL experience so far and has the ability to grow his game." Jaros, 24, split the season with Ottawa and the Belleville Senators (AHL) in 2019-20. He appeared in 13 games with Ottawa, recording three assists and six penalty minutes. While with Belleville, he skated in 34 contests and recorded 15 points (two goals, 13 assists), a plus-20 rating and 14 penalty minutes. The defenseman finished tied for second on Belleville in plus/minus. Over the course of his career, Jaros has appeared in 76 NHL games, recording 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) with 33 penalty minutes. In the AHL, he has appeared in 79 games, scoring 31 points (five goals, 26 assists) with a plus-10 rating and 57 penalty minutes. Internationally, he has represented Slovakia in the 2015 and 2016 World Junior Championships, being named captain in 2016. He helped Slovakia win a Bronze medal in 2015, recording one assist across seven games. In both 2015 and 2016, he was named as a Top 3 Player on the team. The six-foot-four, 220-pound native of Kosice, Slovakia, was originally selected by Ottawa in the 2015 NHL Draft (fifth round 139th overall).

Blockbuster! Jets trade Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic to the Blue Jackets for Pierre-Luc Dubois and a 3rd round pick. This will be the biggest trade of the season I was wrong DW game though today!

Guessing Simek isn't 100% and he hasn't looked like it either from what I've seen.
And good on Jaros for hanging in there with Johnston, maybe the second toughest fighter in the league after Reaves.

This guy is a borderline AHL/NHL player. Could they not fill this role with someone on the Cuda? I could only find two records of fights so this is pretty rare for him.

Maybe it is because he is a righty and the Sharks are short on those on the back end?

from A.J. Perez and Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports,
With or without the glowing puck, Fox Sports is interested in broadcasting NHL games again, sources tell Front Office Sports.
Fox Sports joins ESPN and NBC β which is in the final season of an exclusive decade-long, $2 billion deal β as potential bidders for the next U.S. broadcast rights package. Even though NBC announced it was shutting down NBC Sports Network, insiders believe the network will retain a major share of the NHL broadcast package with games on NBC, USA and Peacock.
In that scenario, Fox or ESPN would bid to broadcast a smaller slate of games. Front Office Sports reported in October that ESPN was interested in bidding for the U.S. rights. That potential package would likely run 20-30 regular-season games along with a piece of the playoffs.
βFox could view this as a strategic play,β former Fox Sports executive Patrick Crakes said. βIf they do that, maybe they can let something else go in the future. The NHL fits a specific niche for them.β

Noticed Michael Grabner is still unsigned.
Since SJ is going to get hemmed in their DZ often, they might benefit from a breakaway/PK expert.
