Wow, you are way too young for that. Blockage? No blockage, but close. Born with a fused valve that was opened but leaked. Actually had become a unicuspid valve by the time surgery rolled around so that was a shock. I'm glad you're in the recovery stage. Hang in there, listen to your doctor, do your therapy and you'll be fine.

NEW YORK (Feb. 4, 2021) -- The National Hockey League announced today that Colorado Avalanche games have been postponed at least through Feb. 11 as a result of Players recently entering the NHL’s COVID Protocols. The decision was made by the League’s, NHLPA’s and Club’s medical groups in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Health who determined that more caution was warranted while the parties are analyzing test results in the coming days.
The team’s training facilities have been closed, effective immediately, and will remain closed until further notice. The League is in the process of reviewing and revising the Avalanche regular season schedule and it is expected that a decision on next week’s games will be made in the coming days. The Colorado organization has, and will continue to follow, all recommended guidelines aimed at protecting the health and safety of its Players, staff and community at large as set by the NHL, local, state and national agencies.

from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said he is certain his players who contracted COVID got it in games against Carolina on Jan. 14 and 16. The Hurricanes had four games postponed shortly after due to a rash of positive tests.
“That’s just the reality of testing being delayed. … It’s really hard to avoid (contracting it),” Blashill said. “It didn’t spread with our team any more than that. We’ve enforced protocols that have been in place to make sure we mitigate any further spreading. I think out staff and players did a real good job of that.
“The problem with hockey is we played in a rink where the humidity is dry and the air is cool, and my understanding, with the research I’ve done, that potentially lets that virus sit right there in the air and it doesn’t dissipate, so one team has it and you play a game, it’s hard. You don’t get an instant (test) result that is reliable. The fact that games are getting postponed is unfortunate, but from our perspective we just got to keep trying do the best we can with the protocols.”
Blashill tempered expectations of Zadina in Friday’s game at Tampa Bay (7 p.m., Fox Sports Detroit), his first since Jan. 20. Zadina’s lone practice since then was on Thursday. Prior to that, he skated for a few days with teammates who had COVID, four of whom returned in Wednesday’s 5-1 loss to the Lightning, which extended the team’s winless streak to seven (0-5-2).
“As you saw (Wednesday), your first game back is not easy,” Blashill said. “It will take Filip some time to get going at a full speed. It’s just a situation we’re in where guys got to get back to full speed as fast as they can. He appears to be feeling good, so hopefully he can hit the ground running.”

Fun fact (unless you a Nucks fan): Roussel, Virtanen, Myers, Eriksson, Edler, Pearson, Beagle, and Sutter take more cap than Marner, Tavares, and Matthews.

from Sportsnet,
Patrik Laine didn't shy away from expressing his displeasure after Sunday's loss against the Carolina Hurricanes -- and it had nothing to do with his new city, his teammates or the dynamic with head coach John Tortorella.
His ire stemmed from a refereeing error. Prior to a Vincent Trocheck goal at 18:45 of the second period, which gave Carolina a 4-3 lead, Columbus requested a coach's challenge for an off-side call. The NHL said after the game the challenge should have resulted in Carolina's goal being disallowed.
Instead, during the play review, a miscommunication between the replay booth, the linesmen and the NHL's Situation Room took place, leading to play resuming before all replays were reviewed to confirm the off-side. The goal stood and Columbus was assessed a delay of game penalty. During the second intermission, it was confirmed that the play was indeed off-side and the remaining 45 seconds of the penalty were rescinded -- but the goal was never revoked.
"I think that's the biggest joke I've ever seen," Laine told reporters after the game. "Especially this kind of game, two good teams playing good hockey in a tight game that should have been 3-3 and not 4-3, it's a tough one. But we all make mistakes and you just have to learn from them and move on."

General Tortorella 44m · Dearest Christine, We survived the second coming of the hurricane force winds this eve. Our fortress swayed in the winds, but did not break. We now rest and prepare to bring battle to the army of Chicago. Love, John

While Torts and CBJ have every right to be mad, this has happened for every team and against every team. Which brings me to a question: what was the worst screwjob SJ ever got?

While Torts and CBJ have every right to be mad, this has happened for every team and against every team. Which brings me to a question: what was the worst screwjob SJ ever got? I believe it was this.... tee-hee. But in all seriousness I believe it was against the Maple Leafs once right? Or was it the expansion draft and the whole Eric Lindros thing with Minnesota? So I found this quote: To quickly tidy up a much longer story: Quebec finished last in 1990-91 and took Eric Lindros, San Jose took Pat Falloon second overall, and Toronto’s pick (traded to New Jersey two years prior) was used to take Scott Niedermayer third.

The blues series although that Vancouver series could be up there as well. Although it could go to all of last season because of the "punishment" from the Vegas series.

CBJ C Mikko Koivu Announces Retirement He always struck me as a classy guy. I'm sure it took a lot for him to be real with himself after 7 games this season. I'd rather have that happen, than a Chelios situation where the guy is useless and wont give it up.

Despite adopting elaborate safety measures and modifying those plans on the fly during the first few weeks of the season, the NHL’s flexibility is being sternly challenged. With 34 games postponed as of late Tuesday and four teams on extended pauses, it’s time for the league to consider taking a break to allow additional protective measures to be put in place and enable players in COVID protocol to emerge safely.
If that means cutting the schedule to 48 games, cut it: Bettman considered 48-game seasons long enough to be legitimate after he imposed lockouts in 1994-95 and 2012-13. Given the circumstances, 48 is enough.

MARLEAU PASSES JAGR AS ROAD TO 1,768 GAMES CONTINUES Sharks forward Patrick Marleau (0-1—1) skated the 1,734th regular-season game of his NHL career and surpassed Jaromir Jagr (1,733 GP) for sole possession of third place on the League’s all-time list. Marleau now needs 23 to move ahead of Mark Messier (1,756 GP) for second and 34 to pass Gordie Howe (1,767 GP) for the most in NHL history.

Cjelli?
The NHL is taking another step forward in data, analytics, and puck and player tracking.
The league has reached an agreement with Amazon Web Services to put all its video and data on the cloud. The hope is to provide everyone from coaches, executives and players to fans an integrated look at the game with the aid of new camera angles, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Being able to search and sort every player’s speed, shot velocity and more isn’t here yet, but this is a starting point.
“Before we can get to building, let’s just say, like a new augmented-reality app that fans can use in arena to pull up real-time stats and puck and player tracking feedback while they’re sitting and watching the game, there’s a lot of infrastructure that needs to be in place,” said Dave Lehanski, NHL executive VP of business development and innovation. “There’s a tremendous amount that we’ll be able to do.”
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Amazon Web Services CEO Andy Jassy unveiled the deal on NBC Sports Network late Wednesday. Bettman said the “state-of-the-art technology and services will provide us with capabilities to deliver analytics and insights that highlight the speed and skill of our game.”
The NFL, Formula One, Bundesliga soccer and Six Nations rugby already use Amazon Web Services, along with individual teams. Beyond the NFL’s “NextGen Stats,” the Seattle Seahawks have used it study practice habits.
“There’s potentially a lot of ability for coaching staffs to actually help their teams get better by just learning where players may be efficient, where there are some opportunities to coordinate better,” AWS VP of sales and marketing Matt Garman said.
Later this season, fans looking up stats on the NHL’s website will get corresponding video clips and vice versa. The league expects to have new 4K cameras mounted to each arena’s center scoreboard by at least the playoffs to add different angles.
For all the data puck and player tracking can provide, that video will allow Amazon’s AI to piece together even more about goaltending, faceoffs, stick positioning and possibly pave the way for new stats and analytics.
“It’s just the start of where this is going,” Lehanski said. “It kind of melts your mind with the number of opportunities that are sitting in front of us.”
