Much as a like Hertl, this team is still not playoff-level. Hertl's injury history should be considered too and his next deal will take him well into his 30s. When it comes to the trade deadline, nobody is gonna bring in more for their services than Hertl. And that's league-wide. Not just the Sharks. He's the kind of player teams with cup dreams will droll over. I would love to see Hertl dished to a contender for a ransom, then re-sign with the sharks in the offseason for a home-town discount. Would that not make him the goat? at least in a sharks uniform? Sorry but Hertl is no way close to being the “goat” in a Sharks sweater. Nolan, Marleau, Thornton to name a couple

Nolan, Marleau, Thornton to name a couple Jumbo is my favorite player, but none listed, allowed themselves to get traded for high picks only to resign for a hometown discount. Heck even Cooter didn't take a hometown discount.

Wilson will give Hertl a long term deal (10 years?) with a full NMC 🤦🤦 Haha, with Hertl's knees by the time he's 31 he might have his own no-move clause. In all seriousness though, resigning Hertl would be great but taking the assets he'd fetch in a trade and using that cap space to lock up Ferraro (RFA) is a much better move for this team's future. Oh, and buy out Vlasic.

Oh, and buy out Vlasic. all depends on what you get for Hertl. Two young NHLers to come up with William Eklund is not a bad move.. but damn, Hertl playing like a monster right now..
