Seems to me that signing both players should be a priority, and there should be plenty of cap space pending the outcome of the Kane grievance.
Of course their demands have to be reasonable. and I understand the reluctance of many to sign long-term contracts.,but even if the Sharks got very good
value in picks, we'd give up on two proven players in exchange for something that may or may not work.
Hopefully, Wilson will be able to return to work soon, or at least contribute to negotiations.
Opinions?

Hopefully Hasso fires DW soon. There, IFIFY.

Last night's game is a good example of why we should sign Hertl ASAP.
We at least need to make him an offer to clarify what to do next.
Other teams are hoping that he won't sign so the offer needs to be made quietly in order to maintain value.
Sharks need to clarify the situation in order to take steps to build a better team.

The Sharks as constructed will miss the postseason three years in a row. They can no longer retool so why resign Hertl? They keep him and they will miss again next season. At some point you have to make changes and that all starts with firing DW.

You could very well be right, but they need to gigure it out now. The Sharks owe it to both the fans and the team.

They have contracts that nobody wants for many years. This will be a three year plan at best. Expect another buyout as well. Next year everyone is a year older and I don't see any prospect making much of a difference next season. Cant even go full rebuild mode because of the bad long term contracts on the books.

According to Lebrun, eight years at about 8 mill per for Hertl.
If so, I wonder if the Sharks will extend Barabonov or move him?

I think the duration is a mistake on this one. His knees will prove me right...but I hope I am wrong. Love the guy and the player but 8 years......
