There's not much happening on here these days and who can blame anyone for being disinterested with a bland, bad, product on ice. So let's be real: Bedard is lighting up the WJC. He looks like a generational talent a la McDavid/Matthews. Will he be that in the NHL remains to be seen but there's no question he's going #1 in the draft with what he's done and is doing.
Your own feelings on tanking aside, we can all agree that the Sharks suck and have for a while now. So do you embrace the tank and ship off your best assets like Karlsson and Meier (maybe Hertl) if you can find takers? San Jose is currently 11 points ahead of the dead last Blackhawks and have the Ducks (shoot me if they land the top pick) and Blue Jackets worse off too. So it is within striking distance but they could definitely help their odds by being proactive so I'm thinking if you're GM, are you digging in on trade interest well before the deadline or do you wait and see? Or just ignore the tanking altogether?

That's a tough decision to make because if we embrace the tank, were gonna need to suck a whole lot more to catch up (or is it down?) with Chicago. It has been absolutely brutal to watch them play, but I could get onboard with a full team rebuild.

Generational guys do not come along often, have to give yourself a decent shot at it. And it’s still a uncommonly strong draft if they don’t get the wunderkind
EK65 has to go for whatever, Timo I’m not sure about, would have to be a good return. But he is 26 already, and next contract would be big.
We only have 2 potential game changing prospects and too early to pencil them in as such. It’s really amazing how far away this team is even after the last several years. I’m leaning towards blow it all up, 3 years late, move Timo and Hertl. Grier is going to need a lot of good breaks to accelerate any kind of push here

Bedard would be a game-changer, it is a lottery, as cjelli pointed out, but you have to give yourself the best odds you can. You have nothing to gain by doing anything else and I think it was during the Ducks game that they said the QO for Meier would be around 10M. Not sure how to fact check that but if it is true he's nowhere near worth that, especially for a team that isn't going anywhere. And I have my own gripes with Meier and his game that I wouldn't miss.
