If You believe any of the rumors to be true, Nobody seams interested in giving up much in a return for a Karlsson trade. GMMG inherited a shitty situation, but does he hold his bluff as to not get run over by other GM's and keep Karlsson or just cut bait and get as much money off the books as possible with little to no assets in return?
I say fuck the rest of the League if You can't get anything that You want in return just keep Him here in San Jose. It's not like His Salary is keeping us from contending for the next few Years, were in full rebuild mode. Imagine if Karlsson has another Year with at least 75 points, I don't see his value going down even though he will be a Year older but there will be one less Year on his Contract. Maybe a Team will be willing to give more at the trade deadline if they think they're close to contending.
With all that being said, I'm no GM that's why they pay me to sit in my Lazy boy and drink Beer and not run an NHL Team!

You know since he hates being on and in San Jose! I can see him not giving it his all if doesn't get traded. then we're just left with another pylon!

The Karlsson trade is gonna be one of the more complicated trades the league has ever seen given all the factors that have to be weighed (by both teams) and negotiated. I am confident Grier will get it done.
I really don’t care about the return too much. The Karlsson experiment was a failure and basically set this team on the course it’s currently on. Any type of positive asset gained in return has to be considered a plus. Getting rid of his contract is the biggest step in right direction.

Is there any way they can just terminate his contract and send him on his way? I mean, we'll get nothing in return but we also won't be retaining any of his contract either.

He would have to agree to it and no matter how much he wants to win, he’s not flushing that amount of guaranteed money down the drain. Nobody would.

I'm down with this. The return isn't great but to retain so little salary is a major win.
Get ready to see the Sharks at #32 on everyone's power rankings in September.

Zadina - Hertl - Barabanov Eklund - Couture - Duclair Hoffman - Granlund - Kunin Peterson - Sturm - Zetterlund
Ferraro - Rutta/Myers? Vlasic - Benning Knyzhov - Burroughs
Kahkonen Blackwood
Something like that. Everyone says Granlund and Hoffman are terrible now

Everyone says Granlund and Hoffman are terrible now I gotta think Hoffman is a pure rental, he’ll get every chance to put up numbers to inflate his value and then ship him at the deadline. I do find it odd that they would bring him in though, considering his history with Karlsson. I know everyone’s a professional but when you have that kind of problem in a locker room and you bring the other side into it… Maybe it’ll be Hoffman’s second one day stint in SJ, haha.

Well to only retain 1.5 million of EK65’s Salary is Huge. Not much in return, but Hoffman might fetch a second rounder at the trade deadline if he has a great year and there’s a desperate team. The first rounder we got from the Penguins, will likely be in the high 20’s so not much there. Now if we could get rid of Vlassic’s contract.

The comments on X or twatter or whatever the hell it is these days were so funny to me.
People said the Pens fleeced us. others said we fleeced them yadda yadda yadda.
As long as EK65 and a majority of his horrible contract is gone, then that's good with me!
Now just gotta make sure the GMMG does not trade away that 2024 1st round pick!
Maybe we what, sniff the playoffs in the next 5 years then?
What say you?
