4.5M could probably get you Ferland for a year or two. Do it Doug!

Nobody even contacted Labanc? That seems odd.

Jim Matheson @nhlbymatty People are gob-smacked Labanc would sign for $1 mil off 50-point plus season when he made $742,000 this year. The kid's betting on himself rather than, say, taking 2-year deal at $2.5 mil per. Next season if he gets 50 or more pts again, he'll be Jordan Eberle ($5.5 mil) range

I don't think dougie will have enough 1st rounders by then to negotiate out of a good player. I think Lebancs credit just shot up. Stand up move by him honestly. He obviously wants to play for the sharks. Patty should take the league minimum since he is still being paid his 6ish +/- Mil from Toronto. Who knows what Jumbo will take (maybe 1 mil)? That would leave some money on the table for something possibly.

While this seems altruistic I have to imagine a handful of teams can rake the league over the coals by abusing this.

Hmm... That sentence makes sense as both "re-signed" and "resigned" Wow, CapFriendly shows 1M, after which he's still not arbitration eligible. What a hand-cuffing by DW. Is he going to throw 2.5M at each Joe and Patty now?!
I'd hope that he save that 3 mil extra for someone else in the top 9 or even a left handed depth defenseman.

Guy got 1 year salary paid out early. He's on bonus time either way.

I wouldn't give Patty more than Perry got. I wouldn’t give him more than Labanc got...

from Kevin Allen of USA TODAY,
Former Nashville Predators captain Greg Johnson, known for his soft-spoken, affable demeanor, died Monday morning at his home, according to a family friend.
The friend asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to disclose the information.
No cause of death was provided.
Johnson, 48, was taken by the Predators in the expansion draft. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round in 1989, though he never played for them and was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. After four years at the University of North Dakota and appearances with the Canadian National Team, he began his NHL career with the Red Wings in 1993-94.

from Dan Szczepanek of Grandstand Central,
Hockey culture is evolving. Minority fans, LBGT fans, women, and low-income fans are gaining a voice in hockey fandom through organizations like the Black Girl Hockey Club. The traditional hockey market is changing and, with it, the entire landscape of hockey. Although change is difficult and oftentimes unwanted, anticipating and encouraging this shift toward inclusion is a move that will benefit institutions and hockey fans alike. Embracing diversity and working toward equity in hockey is the best way for the National Hockey League to move forward into the future of hockey....
In my opinion, the NHL needs to continue to build relationships with ethnic minority hockey organizations, as this provides a way for the different communities to get involved in hockey. While conducting a South Asian event for the Edmonton Oil Kings, I met a group of kids that were wearing Jujhar Khaira Oilers jerseys. Jujhar is the only current player of South Asian descent in the NHL, and when I asked the group what it means to them to see a fellow Sikh hockey player in the NHL, they responded by telling me that they themselves had started to play hockey because of him – a very powerful statement. Our organization’s goal is to have male and female hockey players playing at elite levels and have more representation in the NHL. I firmly believe that to diversify the NHL’s fan base, the players in the league must be diverse as well.
much more

Its a name I've used forever now. Back in the day, I want to say America's funniest videos (memory hazy lol) the Rabbit with a tiny antler rack on it. Started as my gamer tag back in the early 00s.

I agree with him 100% (except the love of Hannity, the guy is an idiot) and wish more teams/leagues would take the stance of keeping politics out of sports. However, I predict that within 24-48 hours he’ll be run out of his coaching job by the angry left and his police department employer will have to issue an apology/disclaimer for his hurtful comments.
