I think I had a run-in with that bartender. Yea? i tell you, a few of those big senior bartenders downstairs need to be flipped upstairs to serve hot dogs and the young sharp kids transfer downstairs, pour me quick Draft beers and call me 'Sir.' those old fucks that think they bar-tend at the Mark fkn Hopkins, hint at a $20 tip for every lazy step they take - can hit the road IMO.
Hope you make it to another Tank game this season 96! Now you are triggering a pet peeve. I had a European collegue come out and ask about tipping etiquette at the bar last weekend. Beers were like 8-9 dollars each at San Pedro Market. To me, it's a simple 1 dollar per beer. You ain't doing much here. You hand squeeze a margarita or toss together a solid martini, I'll go 2 dollar tips. But for beer, no way. However, the fucking prices are getting to be such that 15% on a beer is going to be running us damn near 2 dollars. So now you look like a dick for not shoveling out on what are already over priced drinks. Fuck high beer prices!

I have brewed it, cooked with it, and I think I even have shampoo'd with it. Love the stuff, and I drink a lot of it. But for the years we owned season tickets at the tank (until we moved to another city) I believe I only bought one beer at the tank. The reason - it would have cost so much for beers during the games that we would have spent too much money. Also, I came to the tank to see the game, not deposit spent rounds of beer into their toilets, inevitably when nature calls during the game. And on top of that, at least at that time, they served beers like MGD and Bud Lite - total shit. Anyway, as much as I love beer I believe I honestly had a better time through those seasons of hockey without it.

By 10 minutes into the 2nd I have sobered up enough that I'm in the same condition I would be buying beer at the game. LOL I'm just kidding. I drink a lot of beer, but I wasn't going to buy MGD or Bud Lite no matter what. And I don't think they had the craft beers on the concourse back then.

from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
After being traded by the Leafs and bought out by Carolina, Patrick Marleau figured he would go home and return to the San Jose Sharks. Well, that’s not happening. Sharks don’t want him. Apparently, Arizona does, but Marleau may not want to play there. This off-season isn’t turning out the way he hoped it would … Tampa Bay has signed Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Victor Hedman and Andrei Vasilevskiy for a total cap hit of $35.3 million when all the contracts kick in by 2020-21. The Maple Leafs already have Matthews, Tavares and William Nylander at for $29.5-million without signing Mitch Marner. They’ll be at at least $40 million for the four when the Marner deal is done.

Patty finds himself in exact same place he would have been if he had accepted DWs 2 year deal in Summer 2017. But he insisted on a 3rd year and Leafs were willing.
Marleau showed DW the business side of their relationship, now DW is showing Patty the flip side of that same 'business'. Everyone has acted in their best interests, no foul anywhere.
But nobody feel bad for PM, he's already got that 3rd year money in his bank account. Now the question becomes - how badly does Marleau want to pad his NHL stats?

This all is correct under assumption Steve Simmons is pedaling a rumor that is true.
There's a very low probability that Steve Simmons is pedaling a rumor that is true.
I think DW informed both Patty and Jumbo that he's waiting for any casualties of the current RFA standoffs and I think he will offer both a maximum available deal after he picks such a casualty, or after he is sure there will be no good casualty.

from NHL.com,
Roberto Luongo will be the first player to have his number retired by the Florida Panthers when they raise his No. 1 before their game against the Montreal Canadiens at BB&T Center on March 7, 2020.
The 40-year-old retired after a 20-year career in the NHL on June 26. He is second in NHL history in games played by a goalie (1,044), third in wins (489) and ninth in shutouts (77). He is one of three goalies in NHL history to have played 1,000 games.
"I want to thank the entire Panthers organization for this incredible recognition," Luongo told the Panthers website. "It's quite an honor to be the first player to have his number retired by the Panthers. I'm truly looking forward to sharing this special night with my friends, family, teammates and the Panthers fans."

from Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times,
The Maple Leafs’ Mitch Marner, the Lightning’s Brayden Point and the Avalanche’s Mikko Rantanen are the headliners, the franchise players who likely will push $10 million salary-cap hits on their new deals — when they happen. The Maple Leafs already have positioned their salary structure to work even if Marner holds out.
But Marner, Point and Rantanen are just the tip of the iceberg. The Flames’ Matthew Tkachuk and the Jets’ Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor aren’t far below that top tier, and the notable RFAs go on and on beyond that.
In fact, of the top 18 free agents of any type entering the summer (as determined by Evolving Wild’s popular contract projections), 11 remain unsigned and 10 are RFAs. All of them are projected cap hits above $6.5 million.
This offseason paralysis is radically different from Major League Baseball’s problem in recent offseasons. The NHL’s blockade is with its young free agents, not its veterans, and this probably will prove to be a one-time issue.
Still, it’s perplexing. The lack of movement at the top of the board has created a trickle-down effect.

Seeing Pavs in a Dallas sweater is going to be terrible. Do you think Logan will get the C before pre-season? I'd like for them to make it happen early and not let this linger around or move the C during the year.

from Matthew Paras of the Washington Times,
The Washington Capitals’ main spokesman won $1 million from a July 27 Powerball drawing, according to the Virginia Lottery.
Sergey Kocharov, the Capitals’ vice president of communications, bought five lottery tickets on an impulse when at Harris Teeter on Kings Mill Lane, letting the computer randomly select his numbers. One of Kocharov’s tickets hit the first five numbers: 1-19-31-48-61.
“I was surprised,” Kocharov said in a press release. “I always hear about jackpot wins. It feels great!”
