Pierre McGuire appears to be getting a demotion.
The longtime hockey analyst has been removed from NBC Sports' No. 1 hockey broadcast crew and will be replaced by Brian Boucher, a source told The Athletic's Rick Carpiniello.
McGuire will still work NHL games for NBC but Boucher will be on the top team with Mike "Doc" Emrick and Ed Olczyk, adds Carpiniello.
"Identical to last year, we will begin the season with Doc, Eddie, and Brian working the early Wednesday Night hockey game, with Pierre anchoring the late game of the doubleheader," NBC Sports said in a statement to Sports Business Journal's John Ourand.
The 58-year-old joined the network when it acquired the league's U.S. broadcast rights in 2006. He has been working full-time for NBC since 2011.
McGuire drew criticism and was essentially forced to apologize for a series of awkward on-air exchanges with fellow analyst Kendall Coyne Schofield in January.

Yep...and usually you’re paying a fee for something you’ve already paid taxes for. One of the many reasons I moved to South Carolina. Goc Damnit quit rubbing it in our faces Well he's about to have a hurricane in his face, so cut him some slack.

San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane is the only hockey player featured in this year’s ESPN Body Issue. So here are members of the US Women’s team from 2017 as well. Didn't really need to see Kane's ass, but the right side of the photo is spectacular!

DW is saying publicly that they aren’t bringing hom back. I respect the hell out of Doug Wilson for holding the line on this. sure isn't 2007 anymore, but that must have been tough. now many wondering if Patty will pimp himself out to the Yotes, Kings, Ducks just to pad his lofty NHL stats. If he wears a fkn kings jersey, it should hinder getting #12 up in the tank rafters someday.

Not bringing back Marleau makes sense but in the same way, not bringing back Thornton would too. With Pavelski gone and Marleau a non-option why not just go all the way?
Jumbo is a bigger contributor at this point and a much bigger influence on the whole than Patty but maybe it’s time to turn the team completely over.

Longtime between-the-benches analyst Pierre McGuire is reportedly being demoted by NBC Sports ahead of the upcoming NHL season.
The Athletic’s Rick Carpiniello — citing sources of the “impeccable” variety — dropped the news on Wednesday.

Jumbo is a bigger contributor at this point and a much bigger influence on the whole than Patty but maybe it’s time to turn the team completely over. I was thinking about this too but I feel like our line up is too shallow to fully cut bait. Even with Jumbo I feel like you are requiring that we rely on a minimum of 2/3 or our top forward prospects panning out and contributing around 30 points. And ideally Karlsson has a better year (really just stays healthy so full year of production) to help absorb more of the impact. Bottom line, we lost 2 top 6 forwards including the guy that led the team in goals. If you toss in a top 9 forward too that is quite the gap to fill with a wing and a prayer on prospects. Jumbo and Patty would have been a conservative play to limit risk on the prospects to just 1 sure fire (labanc slots up, Patty can fill 3 or 4 wing options, prospect ideally fills in on 3 wing as well and we fudge the remaing line 2 wing). Keeping just jumbo is kind of the goldi locks position.. Letting both walk is the handing the keys to the Porsche over to your 16 year old.

Speaking of prospects.
What's the reasses on our depth chart? If a Suamela has figured it out enough to play on line 2 he's at least a bit older to beging cracking into that slot. And Radil as a 4th line plug to allow some of the other guys to maybe get some shots with Jumbo on line 3?
Meier - Couture - Kane Hole - Hertl - Labanc (not sure if Suamela or Sorrenson can fill in here). Sorrenson - Jumbo - hot prospect Melker - Barclay - Radil or other prospect
I don't see how you yank Jumbo out of there without it turning to shit real quick.

LOL. hey her hubby is Michael Schofeld, 300 lb., 6'-7" OG of the LA Chargers. Maybe he 'handled' the Pierre sitution? Ha! oh man, just two jock sweethearts from Chicago's west suburbs, one heading to the rink, the other lacing up cleats. a cammi Granato wannabe. I wish the new-age brodcaster well, but her name will probably be 'mute' on my screen in short order.

No doubt. Also the fact that (knock on wood) top injuries he can fill the 1 or 2c spot if needed. Production would go way down. Maybe Doug has better insight on the prospects coming up ( I would love for a few to come up and take spots). But as I see it, there is just too many holes to fill that Patty would have been good insurance. Or maybe this is Dougie's way of reverse psychology to get Patty to sign a PTO lol. One thing I do wonder.... what to do with all that cap space? lol
