FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A yearlong investigation led to a billion dollar finding claiming the California University State system allegedly hid money from lawmakers.
A state auditor released a report finding the CSU system placed a total of 1.5 billion dollars into non-traditional outside accounts.
The accumulation ranged over a span of ten years - and happened during a time when tuition was raised from about three thousand dollars to nearly six thousand.
The news was frustrating for political science professor Dr. Thomas Holyoke who is currently chair of the academic senate at Fresno State.
"We are the entity that provides education to most of the middle and lower class students in the state one thing we should not be doing is raising tuition on them if that's at all possible," Holyoke said.
Second-year student Jasmine Mendez agrees.
"It's not about the money it's just not telling people and if you're going to hide that much money what are you doing with it," Mendez said.
Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva requested the audit a little over a year ago - after the U-C audit disclosed more than 170 million dollars were not disclosed and kept hidden.
Quirk-Silva says for her, this is all about transparency.
"When the legislature is asked to invest more dollars because the emphasis is they don't have enough money and they raise tuition and you see there is actually a pretty healthy reserve slash surplus, I think we should be aware of that," she said
In a statement, CSU Chancellor Timothy White said the audit "overlooks dozens of presentations of publicly available reports that included information about these funds."
His spokesperson echoed those sentiments - adding the money was set aside to be part of a rainy day fund.

Who knew people use each other?
WASHINGTON — Who says chivalry is dead? A new trend has emerged on the dating scene in which a person schedules a date with someone they aren’t really interested in, just to get a free meal. The tactic has been dubbed a “foodie call,” and while it sounds absolutely ridiculous at first consideration, new research reveals it is happening quite often.
Researchers at Azusa Pacific University and UC Merced had 357 heterosexual women answer a series of questions about their personalities, thoughts on traditional gender roles, and their personal foodie call histories. Interestingly, 33% of the participants admitted to engaging in at least one foodie call.

The so called community.
Man arrested for rape in NYC allegedly told witnesses 'she deserved it' ... 'for slavery' By Thomas Lifson The Left's reparations strategy is working as intended. The push for slavery reparations is all about anger, not justice. In the face of the prosperity Donald Trump has brought, the Democrats worry about their dependence in high turnout and 90-percent-plus voting support from African-Americans. If blacks feel that Trump's prosperity is worth preserving, more satisfying than dependence on government handouts, then that extraordinary level of support will be impossible to maintain.
People who no longer need food stamps just might wish to keep the prosperity rolling with the Trump tax cuts intact and deregulation-fired investments producing jobs and driving up wages:
Over 5.8 million individuals have discontinued their participation in America's food stamp program since President Donald Trump's first full month in office, according to the latest U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data.
The one emotion that can both unite group solidarity and drive people to vote is anger. If the current economy satisfies people, then some other source must be found, for as Saul Alinksy taught them, "it's up to us to go in and rub raw the sores of discontent, galvanize them for radical social change."
That's why the push for slavery reparations has, in the space of a decade, gone from being shunned by presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008 to being embraced by most of the party's presidential field and the subject of "fiery" hearings in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives Wednesday.
The more fire, the better — for Democrats. But not for the rest of us, as indicated by this alleged crime as described by witnesses. The New York Post reports:
A black parolee arrested for raping and bashing a white woman on the roof of his Bronx apartment building allegedly told a witness that she "deserved" the brutal attack because of slavery, according to court papers.
"She was a white girl. She deserved it because us minorities have been through slavery," Temar Bishop, 23, allegedly said to someone who witnessed the bloodied 20-year-old woman after the assaults, according to a criminal complaint.
"This is what they used to do to us. This is what they did to us during slavery. They used to beat us and whip us."
Temar Bishop, 23, was arrested by authorities on Friday in Virginia on a slew of charges connected to the early morning June 1 assault, which officials have deemed a hate crime, according to authorities.
The 20-year-old met Bishop — who was on parole after serving just over a year behind bars for robbery — around 5 a.m. and joined him on the rooftop of the public housing building on Alexander Avenue near East 137th Street in Mott Haven, police said.
Is this the "social justice" that Democrats want?

Sacramento police officers were heckled by members of the community while investigating the scene where rookie officer Tara O'Sullivan was killed last week, and the vice president of the National Fraternal Order of Police said Monday that interactions like that are all too common these days.
Jay McDonald spoke with "Fox & Friends" host Steve Doocy about the now-viral footage in which a woman can be heard telling an officer that he deserves to be shot.

The resistance runs deep:
Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan is being accused of leaking plans last week for scheduled Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, after expressing fierce opposition and allegedly ordering top officials to “stand down” on the operation.
A source familiar with the matter told Fox News that when the operation was in its planning phase two weeks ago, McAleenan ordered ICE Acting Director Mark Morgan to call off the deportation operation that was expected to target 2,000 families in up to 10 cities across the country. President Trump, however, ordered that Morgan continue as planned -- until he abruptly announced Saturday he was delaying the raids to see if Congress could work out a solution to the "Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border."
The source told Fox News that Homeland Security officials had been planning the raids since April—prior to former acting ICE director Ron Vitiello’s departure from the administration amid a DHS staffing shake-up—and that McAleenan had been opposed to the plans from the start.
“He is the one that wanted to make sure this operation did not go forward,” the source told Fox News. “He has been fighting this operation since its inception.”
On Friday, The Washington Post published a story with explicit details of the planned raids, citing U.S. officials familiar with the operation. The story, written by Post immigration reporter Nick Miroff, said the raids would take place before dawn, in major cities including Houston, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles. Miroff also reported that the planned raids would begin on Sunday.
Tom Homan, the former head of ICE, first suggested in an interview Saturday on "Fox & Friends" that McAleenan was behind that story as he accused the DHS leader of working against the ICE operation.
“You’ve got the acting secretary of Homeland Security resisting what ICE is trying to do,” Homan said. “He does not support this operation, and I tell you what, if that’s his position, then he’s on the wrong side of this issue.”
He noted that the leaked story "gave the location of th

BOSTON (CBS/CNN) — A popular knitting social media website based in Boston has banned support for President Donald Trump on its platform, accusing his administration of propagating “open white supremacy.” Ravelry, a community site that allows users to share ideas about knitting and textile projects, said in a blog post Sunday that it will remove users if they express support for Trump on its forum, profile pages or any other content. “We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy,” the site said.

There is a fair amount of the left that actually thinks that nearly half the country are white supremacists. I never thought I would live to see this day.
At the same time most serious DNC candidates are openly endorsing reparations.
Joe Biden is trying to avoid the issue: In a statement to VICE this week for a story about healthcare reparations, a Biden spokesperson said the former vice president "believes that we should gather the data necessary to have an informed conversation about reparations, but he has not endorsed a specific bill." That means unlike the majority of the 2020 field, Biden does not necessarily support a reparations commission, the latest issue separating him from the progressives he's running against.
