So now the City of Philadelphia police chief is calling for better gun control laws. The shooter in this case is a felon with numerous prior convictions that would preclude him from owning a gun. So what additional law is going to prevent a felon drug dealer from illegally possessing when he already broke numerous laws to get the gun in the first place? Reminds me of the Robin Williams joke about unarmed British police, "STOP!! Or I will yell stop again!!" I spent some time with him at an event in DC two years ago...he’s a true blue liberal who spent time telling some of us how great Obama and Holder were for law enforcement. When no one else agreed with him he got all huffy and left. I don't know of any member of law enforcement who were fans of Obama and Holder.

The so called community meets the second amendment but the so called media wont tell this story: Five Chicago teens are being charged with murder after a 14-year-old who was with them during an attempted burglary was shot by the homeowner, authorities said Tuesday. The group traveled in a stolen Lexus to an Illinois home where they were confronted by the 75-year-old homeowner, according to the Lake County Illinois Sheriff's Office. The man went out to investigate and told authorities he believed someone was trying to steal his car, a 2011 Audi. "At least one of the male subjects advanced toward him with an unknown object in his hand," officials said in a release. "The homeowner feared for his life and discharged a firearm." At least one of the rounds from the small caliber revolver struck the 14-year-old, and a knife was later found at the scene of the shooting. The homeowner called 911 to report the attempted burglary and shots fired, but by the time police arrived all of the suspects had fled. Meanwhile, about 3 miles down the road local police were investigating a traffic crash when the stolen Lexus pulled up to the scene, Detective Sgt. Chris Covelli told reporters at a news conference. Two of the occupants exited the vehicle and one flagged down the officers to assist the other who had a gunshot wound to the head. Covelli said officers began first aid on the gunshot victim and called an ambulance while the other individual was taken into custody. The remaining four teens fled in the Lexus "at a high rate of speed," according to Covelli. The ensuing car chase reached speeds of 120 mile per hour and only ended when the Lexus ran out of gas. The four teens fled the vehicle on foot, three of whom Covelli said were taken into custody "pretty quickly." The fourth suspect was located by an officer and a K-9 about a block away inside a dumpster. All five of the teens, ages 16 to 18, were charged with first degree murder "due to them being in commission of a forcible felony, when the 14-year-old victim was shot and subsequently died as a result of being shot during the commission of a burglary," authorities said in the release. Only one of the suspects, 18-year-old Diamond Davis, has been identified. Note- Yahoo news says only one suspect has been named but: Chicago Sun Times: Diamond Davis, 18, Kendrick Cooper, 17, Stacy Davis, 17, Steven Davis, 17, and Curtis Dawson, 16, were all charged as adults with first-degree murder on Tuesday, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office. "This isn't America, massa Captain. This is Africa!"

When no one else agreed with him he got all huffy and left. I don't know of any member of law enforcement who were fans of Obama and Holder. I didn’t either until I went to DC and met some chiefs/sheriffs from around the country. There were several (sorry, can’t lie...they were all either female or minorities) who were all upset that Trump was POTUS and Obama and Holder were gone. I’d guess it was maybe 20 out of about 150 who were at this event. It was a week long law enforcement conference for the chiefs/sheriffs of the largest organizations from across the country. Most people were so happy Holder was gone and were saying how great it was that Trump and Sessions were so supportive of local law enforcement. This group didn’t like that at all.

The alleged shooter who killed nine in Dayton, Ohio, was found to have cocaine, alcohol and anti-anxiety drugs in his system, according to the Montgomery County Coroner.
A serious study needs to be done on anti-anxiety medications. A common thread among these mass shooters is they are all on some kind of anti-anxiety medication and it wasn't until these medications became widespread that we saw the increase in the mass shootings.

Gavin Newsom’s ridiculous claim: ‘Vast majority’ of San Francisco’s homeless people come from Texas By Chris Nichols on Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 at 3:13 p.m.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom made a ridiculously false claim that Texas is responsible for the "vast majority" of San Francisco's homeless population. There are many reasons for San Francisco’s homelessness crisis: Gentrification. Job losses. Evictions. Mental health and substance abuse struggles. But … Texas?
California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently blamed the Lone Star State for somehow producing the bulk of the city’s homeless population. Newsom was mayor of San Francisco from January 2004 through January 2011.
The Democratic governor was asked during a June interview on "Axios on HBO" why San Francisco’s homeless population did not experience a net decline during his tenure as mayor. Newsom said most of the homeless people on the street when he left office were not from California, but added "we took responsibility" for them.
He then made the head-scratching claim about Texas.
"The vast majority (of San Francisco’s homeless people) also come in from — and we know this — from Texas. Just (an) interesting fact," Newsom said.
San Francisco has struggled for decades with a large homeless population, which reached 8,011 in January — up 17 percent from two years ago, according to the city’s most recent point in time count.
We examined Newsom’s mayoral record on homelessness in a previous fact check. And we’re tracking his gubernatorial campaign promise to tackle the issue statewide through our Newsom-Meter project.
The Los Angeles Times first pointed out Newsom’s questionable statement about Texas, leading the California Republican Party to later call it "a baseless claim."
We decided to dig in for our own fact check.
Our research
Newsom’s statement is contradicted by San Francisco’s own point in time homeless counts. Those reports are conducted every two years.
They consistently show a large majority of people surveyed said they lived in San Francisco prior to becoming homeless.
A smaller share said they lived in another California county. Often the smallest percentage said they lived out of state before becoming homeless in San Francisco.
The 2019 report found 70 percent had lived in the city; 22 percent in another California county and 8 percent out-of-state. Of that 70 percent, more than half, or 55 percent, reported living in San Francisco for a decade or more before losing their home. Just 6 percent said they had lived in the city for less than a year.
Going back a dozen years, the city’s 2007 point-in-time count shows 62 percent reported being from San Francisco; about 16 percent were from outside the state and 15 percent were from another county in the state.
"The data shows (Newsom’s statement) is completely and totally incorrect," said Jennifer Friedenback, executive director of San Francisco-based Coalition of Homelessness. "Newsom knows better, by the way."
Shanna Couper Orona sits outside her RV in San Francisco. A federally mandated count of homeless people in San Francisco showed a 17 percent increase from 2017 to 2019. It was driven, in part, by a surge of people living in vehicles. (AP Photo/Jeff Chiu)
Newsom’s response
To support the claim, a spokesman for Newsom provided data from San Francisco’s Homeward Bound, a program that gives homeless people bus tickets to travel to friends or family within or outside the state who have agreed to take them in. Some homeless advocacy groups have criticized it as simply moving the problem elsewhere.
The data includes travel destinations for the program from 2004 through 2018. It shows approximately 20 percent of Homeward Bound’s trips, or about 2,400, took place inside California during that period. About 80 percent took place out of state.
Texas was the most popular destination outside of California, with 827 trips or 6.7 percent of the program’s 12,268 trips since it started. The next most popular were Washington state, at 5.8 percent, and Florida, at 5.4 percent.
At 6.7 percent, Texas in no way can be described as accounting for "the vast majority" of San Francisco’s homeless population. It also doesn't mean all those who took a trip to Texas were necessarily from that state.
All it means is "you have someone you can stay with" in that state, not that you were born or raised there, Friedenbach noted. She added that some African Americans who have been displaced and left homeless in San Francisco in recent years have family ties in Texas or other southern states, but did not necessarily grow up there.
Homeward Bound’s requirements say nothing about needing to be from a particular state.
Here’s what they do say:
"The Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing can provide you with a bus ticket home if you: are homeless/low income and living in San Francisco; and have family or friends at the destination that Homeward Bound staff can verify as willing and able to provide you a place to stay and ongoing support; and are medically stable enough to travel unassisted to the destination; and are sober and able to abstain from alcohol or using other substances en route."
Calls to San Francisco’s Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing were not returned.
Our ruling
California Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed the "vast majority" of San Francisco’s homeless people come in from Texas.
San Francisco’s own homeless surveys contradict this. They show a large majority reported living in the city before becoming homeless, and just a fraction coming in from out-of-state.
Newsom’s office pointed to data from San Francisco’s bus ticket program for homeless people. But that defense doesn’t hold up. It shows just a small fraction, less than 7 percent, left for Texas, and doesn’t demonstrate that they originally came to San Francisco from that state.
In the end, we found Newsom made a ridiculous claim.
We rated it Pants on Fire.

The so called community
CNN) — An Ohio man committed 10 felonies and two misdemeanors against seven people within a span of 21 minutes, authorities say. A grand jury indicted Rodney Edward King Jr., 29, on the charges related to the incidents that happened August 6 between 9:54 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. in Franklin County, Prosecutor Ron O'Brien said Thursday. "During a half-hour time span, this man went from one location to the next, within a one block radius, committing multiple felonies against seven different victims," he said. The indictment alleges he robbed five random homes, attempted to enter a cab and threw a rock at the vehicle, causing damage. From there, he got on a bus, pulled out a screwdriver and swung it at the driver, hitting the driver in the foot, O'Brien said. By then, police had received numerous calls on the crime spree and dispatched officers to the area. He was arrested immediately.

Another proud moment for the so-called community. Mother holding 1 month old child robbed at gun point leaving a baby clothing store at 1 pm.
FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno Police are searching for two suspects, after a terrifying moment.
A family was out shopping in Fresno’s River Park, when they say, they were robbed at gunpoint.
Police say it happened just after 1 p.m. in the Buy Buy Baby store parking lot.
We spoke with shoppers who were there, many in utter shock that this happened in broad daylight.
A busy Sunday afternoon turned frightening for a few River Park shoppers. Police say the family was a woman, her daughter and the daughters one-month-old baby.
They say the three had just finished shopping at the Buy buy baby store. As they were getting ready to leave, putting the baby into its car seat, that’s when police say two men approached them in the parking lot with handguns.
“They demanded one of the wallets from one of the victims, the victim turned over the wallet and the two suspects fled in a four door sudan,” says Lt. Stephen Viveros with the Fresno Police Department.
Police say the whole ordeal happened in the middle of the afternoon, something they say is rare for the area.
“It’s unfortunate that it did happen, I haven’t heard of a person robbed in broad daylight in that busy area in a long time, if ever,” Viveros said.
Other shoppers just as shocked to hear.
“That poor one month old baby, yeah I don’t know what I would do,” says Mikayla Fronsdahl, a shopper.
Another shopper agreed.
“It’s crazy how we can’t even go out with our families anymore just to buy something simple,” says Eduardo Ceja.
He was shopping at the same store with his family. Ceja says with this and everything else going on in the world, he’s considered getting a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
“I just don’t feel safe, like I can’t go out with my family anymore,” Ceja said.
Police say the suspects are being described as two African American men, between the ages of 20-30 years-old. One suspect was described as 5’11, thin build, wearing dark clothing.
The other suspect was described as 5’6, also wearing dark clothing and a thin build.
If anyone has information you are asked to call Fresno Police at 559-621-7000.

The Palestinian Authority has reportedly banned members of a Palestinian LGBTQ community from holding events in the West Bank, and further threatened to arrest members for activities authorities called “harmful” to the ideals of society. The ban Monday comes after the Palestinian Authority learned that Al-Qaws, a Palestinian group that supports sexual and gender diversity, was planning an event for its members in Nablus, a city in the northern West Bank, the Jerusalem Post reported.
PA Police spokesman Luay Zreikat told the paper that such activities are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society” and completely “unrelated to religions and Palestinian traditions and customs, especially in the city of Nablus.”
Zreikat then charged that “dubious parties” were working to “create discord and harm civic peace in Palestinian society.”
Now all we need is someone to ask Rep. Tlaib and Rep. Omar who they are siding with on the issue. Something tells me the so called media won't.

So in today's world Harry Reid is a racist white supremacists:
Former Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid had some harsh words for his party's presidential candidates, rejecting some of their health care and immigration policies as too extreme to resonate with voters in a general election.
Reid, during a newly published interview with Vice, specifically took aim at "Medicare-for-all" and calls by many candidates to decriminalize illegal border crossings. The blunt-talking former Nevada senator suggested any Democratic nominee running on these issues could face trouble.
“People want a fair immigration system. They don’t want an open-door invitation for everybody to come at once,” Reid said in the interview with Vice. When asked if supporting decriminalization could be bad for Democrats in 2020, Reid said, “Of course it is.”
Reid accused Democrats of not having their priorities in order going into the election.
“There are so many more important things to do. Decriminalizing border crossings is not something that should be at the top of the list,” he said, stating that “it should be way, way down at the bottom.”

Want a hot take? The government should not be using things like automated license plate readers, facial recognition software or cell site simulators unless the policies and procedures outlining their use, data retention and data destruction are published and unclassified and the source code for those softwares (and associated machine learning softwares) is also published and unclassified. Stop demanding I concede my privacy without giving up yours. TRO
