The City of Nashville, Bridgestone Arena and the Metro Nashville Sports Authority have announced a new 30-year lease deal that will keep the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena through 2049. Under the new agreement no taxpayer money will be used in the day-to-day operations of the arena, with all expenses being covered by existing revenue streams. I imagine that is pretty easy to do there considering the number of country music concerts that end up playing in that arena year round. The Tank is pretty much booked up year round but the city still subsidizes them

The Tank is pretty much booked up year round but the city still subsidizes them Bridgestone Arena is in the top 5 arenas in the U.S. for attendance annually. SAP Center was on that level in 2006 but has dropped since then. SAP's number of events I imagine is also going to get cut a bit with the Chase Center opening in SF. SAP currently has only 4 events on the calendar for June.

Tonight's topics of interest- Throwing the puck up the middle is not a good sign for the Canes, the first period of tonight's game, the hand pass, the Blues icing the puck late in the game last night and the Memorial Cup starts tomorrow.

from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,
Talk in league circles Saturday was that legendary NHL goaltender Patrick Roy is expected to be the final interview by Ottawa general manager Pierre Dorion in a thorough search for the vacant post behind the bench.
It’s believed the Senators could speak to the 53-year-old Roy next week to discuss the possibility of being a full-time replacement for Guy Boucher, who was fired by the club on March 1. That would make Roy the mystery seventh candidate for the job, with six interviews already completed.
Roy also has a good relationship with Ottawa assistant GM Peter MacTavish, a former agent, who has been conducting the interviews with Dorion.
While Roy is best known for his Hall-of-Fame career with the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche, he has paid his dues as a coach and has had success.
