Given the stories I've heard from Biznasty podcast, the KHL would be a perfect fit for Kane. I just wonder if the NHL would let them terminate the contract or make the sharks buy him out and take the cap hit. I dunno, those Russian bookies can be pretty brutal. He seems to want that high risk lifestyle, give him what he wants haha.

from Sean Shapiro of The Athletic,
The prospect of a full NHL season with fans in the stands is buoying hopes for a significant — and needed — financial boost next year, but league executives are raising concerns over a vital driver of revenue: season tickets.
Despite a new national TV deal in the U.S. and increased sponsorship opportunities thanks to the widespread legalization of sports gambling, the NHL remains heavily dependent on the box office, which is why ticket sales — particularly of season packages — are a focus heading into 2021-22.
“I think you’ll see everyone selling out to start the season. There’s an appetite and want for live sports, live events — sports and concerts — so in October and November, it’ll be easy to sell. People have been cooped up for two seasons; they want to see games,” one team executive said. “But I am worried, frankly, about the December (numbers) and after that. People missed live events, but I also think people started to notice they didn’t miss going to 41 live events in a season.”
Executives of several teams interviewed by The Athletic said they have seen a dip in sales of full-season packages. While the overall appetite for tickets hasn’t dropped dramatically, they said, the types of packages in demand have changed.

Holland is signing a bunch of contracts that wont be his problem in 2-3 years when he gets fired lol.

However, now that I think of it, Edmonton may have now certain advantages over Denver, though.

Would you rather have Nurse for 9.25 or EK65 for 11.5?

Random thought.
Just think about what happened with Kane and how much coverage is on it, the media, social, etc.
Now imagine if he played in Canada.

I'm not sure but his skin color may be a factor here. The coverage was the same in Winnipeg. Skin color doesn't have anything to do with it. And on que from Matt Porter of the Boston Globe, A few months back, one agent who has clients on the Sharks said of Evander Kane’s off-putting personality: “That guy walks into a room and the flowers wilt.” The Athletic reported this past week that several of Kane’s San Jose teammates don’t want to play with him despite his production (team-high 22 goals and 49 points in 56 games last season). This comes on the heels of allegations from Kane’s estranged wife that he bet on games he played in. When filing for bankruptcy in January, Kane, 30, claimed gambling losses of $1.5 million over the previous year. The collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and NHLPA prohibits gambling on any NHL game. A reminder is posted in every dressing room. But count me as skeptical that Kane, who has made no secret of his love for gambling, was throwing Sharks games. He certainly wasn’t betting on them to lose, given the season he submitted. It’s difficult to see how one left wing could so greatly affect the performance of 17 other skaters and a goalie. The Sharks are in a tough spot. Kane makes $7 million each of the next four years, with a three-team trade list. They have $26.5 million in cap space tied up in Brent Burns (unrestricted free agent in 2025), Marc-Edouard Vlasic (2026), and Erik Karlsson (2027). A prudent move would be to deal UFA-to-be Tomas Hertl, rather than give the 27-year-old a raise on his expiring $5.625 million deal.

While Hertl would fetch the best return, if he is dealt, then DW has to commit to the full rebuild and blowup the team and dumb all the dead weight. From what I hear on the Dangle podcast is a modified no trade clause and no movement clause is just a "speed bump" that isn't that big of issue for a GM.

Don’t view myself as a traitor, just want to see live hockey and feel that California’s not the place to do that, or anything else
