Since he hired a few nerds to run the Canes analytics dept, the analytic community is liking it. People say that his bet on Darling was the key reason of him being dismissed.

Pavelski's SJ house officially hits the market, just $360k gets you started with a 10% down payment. A little too much house for me, but take a tour!

Each NHL team’s worst contract heading into the 2019-20 season San Jose Sharks – Martin Jones Contract: $5.75 million cap hit for the next five years; three-team trade list Back in July of 2017, the San Jose Sharks signed Martin Jones to a six-year deal at just under $6 million a year. The deal went into effect at the start of the 2018-19 season. At the time, that didn’t sound too bad. Jones would be good for the first few years, right? If that’s what you thought, you couldn’t have been more wrong. Last season, in the first year of his deal, Jones had a woeful .896% save percentage during the regular season. Among goalies who started at least 20 games last season, that was the fifth-worst save percentage. Backup Aaron Dell was even worse. Frankly, it’s a minor miracle the Sharks made the postseason despite having such awful goaltending. Jones has a good resume, so there’s an outside chance he could bounce back. After all, goaltending is volatile and pretty unpredictable. But still, Jones is off to the worst possible start to his new contract. The Sharks will need him to be better next season. Dishonorable mentions: Evander Kane’s deal is fine for now, but there will be a time when the Sharks regret signing him. Erik Karlsson’s deal could go down the gutter very quickly thanks to his injury history. But in fairness, they’re gambling on one of the best defensemen in the world. They should be fine. puckprose.com/2019/07/17/each-nhl-team-worst-contract-heading-2019-20-season/25/

I wish I could relive the emotions of that game again in real life, but I doubt I'll ever feel that way again for a Hockey game. From total despair to overwhelming elation in 10 minutes. I couldn't fathom what was happening at the time, other then I knew it was good. It happened so fast, the tank was fucking rocking. Pete DeBoer said in his press conference after the game that it was a special Night for the people in the stands, he was right!

Just another writer talking shit to make himself important. He did get one player right, Milan Lucic Agree in general about writers/reporters, but he was right about the Sharks also...5.75 mil for a goalie with an .896 save % is a bad contract. Who on the Sharks is a worse contract?

Pete DeBoer said in his press conference after the game that it was a special Night for the people in the stands, he was right! I don't think it can be duplicated, unless somehow they are in similar stakes at some point. Almost like a perfect storm. I hate to admit it but I actual gave up on the sharks that night a little after the 3rd started... So pissed at the score, I couldn't believe it had gotten to that point. Some time rolls by and for some reason I had a weird feeling so being a pessimist I jump on the good o'l nhl.com thinking (whats the score now, is the game over? why am I even looking at this right now). My jaw literally dropped that the sharks not only came back, but went up one. I ran out the room and turned the tv in about 2.0 seconds flat. Witnessing one of the greatest come-back and wins in history. At this point... I don't think there is a single opponent that could have made that win any sweeter.

Who on the Sharks is a worse contract? I think (well lets be honest hope) Jones rebounds from a fluke year. To find a bad contract you would have to go back to boedker, who is a UFA finally after this upcoming season lol. If you had to label a current shark. I'd have to point at Kaner just because he hasn't had success in the playoffs. But last year he was hurt and going through some family stuff at the worst time.

Who on the Sharks is a worse contract? The Sharks do not have bad contracts at the moment. They have three risky contracts (E. Karlsson, Jones and Kane) and two meh contracts (Dell and M. Karlsson). That is all.

from NHL.com,
The National Hockey League announced today that Washington Capitals Captain Alex Ovechkin will visit China the week of August 4th serving as an international ambassador for the League. Ovechkin's trip to Beijing will include youth hockey clinics, a media tour and business development meetings.
"It is a huge honor for me to be an ambassador for the entire Washington Capitals organization and the National Hockey League for this special trip to China," Ovechkin said. "I think it is very important to spend time to help make people all over the world see how great a game hockey is. I can't wait to spend time with all the hockey fans there and I hope to meet young kids who will be future NHL players. I can't wait for this trip!"...
"We are very excited that Alex Ovechkin will be joining us in China this summer," David Proper, NHL Executive Vice President of Media and International Strategy said. "Alex represents the best in sports, as he epitomizes that combination of great talent, great personality and great sportsmanship. He is the perfect person to represent the NHL's efforts to grow hockey in China."

I dont think this is discussed enough. I think Jones was soft sometimes but I also think the D was very sloppy very often. Nobody like what Doughty said about Burns but it is true and the sloppy D was not his alone.
