from TSN, Negotiations between the Maple Leafs and restricted free agent Mitch Marner are being watched closely by agents around the NHL this summer, as Joe Smith of The Athletic writes that they are waiting for him to sign with Toronto. "It appears there’s a waiting game among high-profile RFAs with no one wanting to go first, with a source saying agents are waiting for Toronto’s Mitch Marner to get his deal done and set the market," Smith wrote. Marner is one of several high-profile restricted free agents who remain without a contract this summer, including Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado Avalanche winger Mikko Rantanen, Matthew Tkachuk of the Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets forwards Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor and Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks. continued Marner wants that Matthews money.

Never heard of him The Orlando Solar Bears have signed forward Alex Schoenborn to a one-year, standard ECHL contract. Schoenborn spent the last three seasons under contract with the San Jose Sharks but was not qualified. Ain't the internet great? Sharks 3rd round (#72) pick in 2014, was a Ryane Clowe type in Juniors (Portland Winter Hawks). Only played 35 games with the AHL Cuda over 5 seasons. already played last season with Orlando, so Sharks really said good-bye to him last summer, see him as a ECHLer. Clearly another hot prospect Roy fucked up on. Not many from Minot, ND make it to the show. BTW, sharks 6th round (#171) pick in 2014 was Kevin Labanc.

Arizona Coyotes defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was attacked by his family’s 7-year old German Shepard. OEL escaped with 4 stitches, antibiotics, and a tetanus shot. Unfortunately, the dog had to be put down.

Should the Sharks take a shot at signing the bought out Shattenkirk for some dirt cheap money? He can fit into the 3rd pairing with Dillon. Obviously Brisebois isn't stuck in the tanning booth.

No signing of Joe Thornton shows me that the Sharks are contemplating making him a member of the front office and his playing days are over.

Goc Damnit Dougie This just in to NHL.com, it's 2019 and Shattenkirk SUCKS!
2 goals and a -15 on the Rags blueline (-14 the season before) is why he was bought out. Hard miles, banged up and slow now. Better Tampa rolls the dice with $1.75mil for a has-been than Douggie. He ain't that Shattenkirk who once played for the Blues, ya know.

Shattenkirk has been crap the past couple of years. Don't forget that $1.75 is free of state income taxes so an offer from San Jose would have to have been $2 million.

I can understand if they are still kicking tires before signing but I would have thought they'd be done with other business by now. Not sure what is still out there to fill the obvious mid 6 wing modes.

No signing of Joe Thornton shows me that the Sharks are contemplating making him a member of the front office and his playing days are over. GO ahead and bet the farm JT will play at least 40 spirited games on the 3rd line this season and be useful. I'd bet both my left and right nut that will happen. If you think JT is now ready to sit next to Ricci and Nabby in the press box sipping a Pepsi and taking game notes, think again.

At this point even with Jumbo they are 2 top 9 wings short. Maybe 1 is a young gun that surprises in camp or you hold until the deadline, but to me they still either need a 2.5 mil type guy or they grab patty. I don't see them going into the season losing pavs and goose without attempting some replacement.

Suit up only players that can help you win games.

I'll boldly predict 40 NHL goals this season between those two. DW badly needs a prospect pay-off year.

Let's go $1.5M max for Jumbo to play third line and be a difference maker. Sign him already. Put some stability back into the room with Pav's gone. And they better announce LOGAN as the captain to drive some direction in the organization. The only guy that speaks truth post game interviews.

Are they going to sign Marleau? Love Marleau but why would you invest. His numbers were below Jumbo and Jumbo had less games played. You sign Jumbo and let some new talent flourish. Sorry Patty but we can't give contracts nor afford missing nets.

Suit up only players that can help you win games. I agree with Nellie on this one. I expect Jumbo will sign for whatever is offered, and I hope the Sharks pass on Patty. He’s not what this team needs to add this off season.

I would like to believe this, but I suspect if DW was banking on these guys he'd have signed Jumbo and retired to Hawaii for the remainder of August.
