Happy Fathers Day fellow hockey fans! Tough Fathers Day for us this year...my dad (best dad ever passed away Tuesday. Laying low this year. For those of us that are fathers, or will be fathers one day...never underestimate the importance of a father in the well being of children. IMO, you don’t have to be perfect...but you have to be “present” when your not at work. I lost my Dad ten years ago. I feel your pain and sorry for your loss. 19 years ago for me. I feel both your pain. Sorry for the loss.

In NC for some customer meetings. Advocated for wings and beer to be brought in after day 1. Went well. Told the one I knew was a Sharks fan that it was a rough deal, he looked beaten.

If you’re heading home on US50 via Placerville, Sly Park Reservoir is okay for hiking, especially for family stuff. At the end we decided to go back on I-80 and stopped at Fuller lake and later in downtown Lodi, the latter has been cleaned up and looks really nice.
Travel is good, but home is better.
What's with the rockefellers showing up in Lodi? I remember when downtown got an 8 screen cinema in 2002 and we no longer needed to go to Stockton (they had 2 theaters) to catch a flick.

Read an interesting story on an Israeli news website.
There was a guy in Tel-Aviv whose parents died in when he was about thirty, and his only sister died childless soon after. He never married and had no children as well. The cousins and the second cousins, while knowing that he was a sickly one himself, distanced themselves from him and never maintained any link. So the guy, who happened to own seven condominiums in prime locations in Tel-Aviv, got friendly with some of his long-time renters, who took care of him and later when his health deteriorated, set him up in a hospice, continuing to visit and entertain him.
When he died, turned out he willed all his real estate to these renters (three single mothers), on one condition that they are not allowed to sell it as long as they are alive, and his money he willed to the hospice. He also explicitly prohibited any of his equity going to the family. The family sued, claiming he wasn't sane when he composed his will. The judge ruled against them, also billing them $30K for trial expenses.
These condominiums are worth about $500K each AT LEAST. An Israeli hipster will gladly pay $2.5K a month to rent there.

The buyers for our house is recording today!
We are supposedly set to sign the escrow paperwork on our new place at some point today. (hate the waiting part).
Just did all the address changes etc., setting up utilities and going back to Cox Comm. for internet and cable, So screw you Direct TV and ATT!
We save an extra 100 bucks!
Should be able to get back into old house after fumagation, tomorrow to finalize packing etc.!
GETTING CLOSER!

Officially we own the new house!
Officially we do not own our old house!
Unofficially we still live in the old house!
So hopefully the new owners don't try and move in on Sunday as we are set to move out on Monday!
No keys given yet to new owners and no new keys yet for the new one. Should happen today or by Saturday or Sunday.
Good thing I am taking Friday thru Tuesday off!

The sellers of our house needed 3 days (after pushing our already 6 week escrow period to 8 weeks) in order to move out. We had documentation in place every which way to cover for any shenanigans. A lot can happen in a few days especially after you go through the inspection/negotiations of the whole thing.

It was going to cost north of 3 grand to fix the old unit. Two different HVAC guys said that the condenser coils would likely fail next after replacing the already failed evap coils... I spent more for the high efficiency unit rather than going for the cheapest option...

yo peeps!
back to work after a crazy move! And I mean crazy!
To answer y'alls Q's (fug and Marbs, etc.) - we were timing everything to hit the days exact from when both escrows closed. We were only off by a day.
Buyers for our old place were fully aware of this. We were waiting to hear when we would get keys on new place.
(too much of a long story to tell but entertaining nonetheless. The book will be out someday).
Anyway seller for our new house ghosted her own real estate agent and our agent had to contact seller to get keys. She even got a different agent when trying to buy something on her end.
The lady was a piece of work to deal with from what we were being told. (her agent is actually cool dude, so more her than him).
But with that, we are in! Movers were less than estimated so that was nice. Had to order new W/D since our dryer is gas and no gas in garage so we had to go the electric dryer route. Ordered through costco to get the cheap price. now awaiting their call for the exact delivery date.
house coming along. storage wise in kitchen smaller and we already down sized. same with closet too.
but making progress.
you know you hit the right place when you see a gopher snake in your yard just leaving. I mean we are on the Aliso Viejo Creek trail after all!
But 3 neighbors already came up to us and meet us so that was definitely a change from Fullerton!
Everyone looks out for another so far.
