For the past six months the US National Security Agency has not been collecting metadata on Americans’ calls and texts domestically, marking the quiet end to a controversial surveillance programme enacted by the 2001 Patriot Act, a congressional aide said Saturday.
"The administration actually hasn’t been using it for the past six months because of problems with the way in which that information was collected," Luke Murray, US House minority leader Kevin McCarthy’s, R-CA, national security advisor, said during a Lawfare.com podcast. "I’m not actually certain that the administration will want to start that back up given where they’ve been in the past six months."

Mr. Trump has done some great work curtailing government overreach, not only with the patriot act but also with a lot of the waste for previously untouchable government contracts. The work he has done is commendable and I probably would vote for him if he could get congress to actually eliminate section 215. It won’t happen but I can want it to. TRO

The so called community.
Smollett is nominated for the 2019 NAACP Image Awards, scheduled for Saturday. Six-time host and "Black-ish" star Anthony Anderson told Variety on Wednesday that he hopes to see the controversial actor there.
“I hope he wins," Anderson added. "I’m happy for him that the system worked for him in his favor because the system isn’t always fair, especially for people of color. So I’m glad it worked out for him."

Take a good look at the leadership of PR.
(CNN) — Tensions are escalating between President Donald Trump and Puerto Rico's governor over disaster relief efforts that have been slow in coming for the still-battered island after Hurricane Maria. In an exclusive interview with CNN, Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said he would not sit back and allow his officials to be bullied by the White House. "If the bully gets close, I'll punch the bully in the mouth," Rosselló said. "It would be a mistake to confuse courtesy with courage."

Who are the real racists here? F the so called media. I hope they get much more of this treatment from their people.
SAVANNAH, Ga. | Race was front and center on Wednesday night during a meeting coordinated to garner support for just one black candidate in Savannah’s mayoral election.
With signs stating “Black press only” on the doors of the church where the meeting was held, white reporters were barred from entry, while black reporters for at least two television stations were permitted inside.

The pussification of Hi-Tech
Recently I received this email at work:
Over the recent weeks and months, we have received news of many tragic events happening around the globe. When disasters or acts of violence occur, it is natural for many of us to express our pain and/or support by gathering or communicating with others. Often, communal experiences help us to reflect on how we can assist impacted communities. We have long been thinking about how, as a company, we can support and respect each individual’s choice of how to express spirituality. We have therefore created a safe space for prayer and meditation on our Palo Alto campus, as our CEO mentioned today at the Company All-hands. This is a multi-denominational space that can be used by any COMPANY employee to meditate, hold a prayer meeting or just take some time out to breathe. On April 1, the ABCDEF conference room in Building A will be designated for these purposes and can be reserved through our ticketing system. As we look to build a broader “Spirituality at Work” program, we will create a design for a permanent “Spirituality Zone.” If you have thoughts on this project, please contact spirituality@company.com. As with all that we do, we will anchor this faith-friendly project in our values and in our commitment to Inclusion and Diversity. We are entering somewhat unchartered waters as we build a broader workplace spirituality plan, but I’m confident that as a community, we can create something beautiful and meaningful to many. Chief People Officer
April 1, huh? The joke is on them.

Newsom hates Constitutional rights The Judge's ruling specifically called out the California AG's arguments as requiring you to put the Constitution on it's ear to uphold what California wants. The Judge applied the two established standards for interfering with the Second Amendment and found neither one applied. The Ninth Circuit may overturn the ruling but this law is dead on arrival at SCOTUS.

New York should be embarrassed that they elected this idiot.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez D-N.Y., might want to brush up on some history after asserting, incorrectly, that Republicans in Congress amended the Constitution to kick President Franklin Delano Roosevelt out of office.
"They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected," Ocasio-Cortez said Friday during a night hall event with MSNBC with Chris Hayes.
Ocasio-Cortez was referring to the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution which passed in 1947.
The text of the amendment states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” FDR died in 1945, meaning he was dead for a full two years before presidential term limits were implemented.

I like this new Attorney General He also shot down the liberal talking point that he has somehow said something that Mueller didn't say in his report by noting that he was working with Mueller to go over the redactions of information in the report that is required by law (grand jury testimony, information relevant to ongoing investigations and classified information).

Show the people that this whole thing was brought on by Obama and Lynch at the DOJ

Wow, probably being a wee bit independent from the DNC guarantees some sanity leftovers:
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., diverged from some of his fellow candidates vying for the 2020 Democratic nomination on Monday by arguing against expanding the number of justices on the United States Supreme Court.
Sanders, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, said he was concerned that if Democrats take the White House in 2020 and decide to add more justices to the Supreme Court, then the Republicans will just do the same the next time they win the presidency.
“My worry is that once the Republicans are in power, they will just do the same thing,” Sanders said while answering a question at the We The People summit in Washington.

A woman carrying two Republic of China passports, four cellphones, a laptop, a hard drive and a thumb drive with malware on it made her way past an initial security checkpoint at Mar-a-Lago when President Trump was in town on March 30, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court.
The woman, identified as Yujing Zhang, said she was there to "go to the pool," when first approached by a Secret Service agent, an affidavit said.
Mar-a-Lago security could not find her on the access list so security contacted the manager of the Beach Club who said Zhang is the last name of a member of the private club, the report said. Because of a perceived language barrier, it was believed she was a relative of a club member and allowed on the property, an investigator said.
A valet driving a golf cart picked up Zhang and asked her where she wanted to go but she didn't know, the affidavit stated.
She ended up in a main reception area where she told a curious receptionist that she was there to attend a United Nations Chinese American Association that evening, a Secret Service agent said.
The receptionist knew that event didn't exist and determined Zhang was not on an access list, according to the affidavit.
Escorted off the property and questioned by an agent, Zhang claimed her Chinese friend 'Charles' told her to travel from Shanghai, China to Palm Beach and to speak with a member of President Trump's family about Chinese and American foreign economic relations, an agent wrote in the affidavit.
The agent noted that Zhang was able to speak and read English with ease.
Based on her responses the Secret Service determined there was probable cause to charge Zhang with making false statements toward federal law enforcement agents and unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds.
The first charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The second charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
Zhang had an initial court appearance Monday morning before federal Magistrate Judge William Matthewman. A detention hearing is set for April 8.
Read the full criminal complaint below.

This is CNN:
Univision anchor Jorge Ramos said on Tuesday evening that he believes the solution to the migrant crisis at U.S.-Mexico border is to just legalize illegal immigrants because “nobody can really stop them” from entering the United States. “The U.S. economy has been absorbing them and it seems that we have to realize that the only way to deal with this is in a legal way,” Ramos told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “Just to understand that legally they are going to keep coming and there is really nothing we can do to stop them.”

Finally got around to finishing up my taxes. It looks like my deductions got halved this year. Thanks Trump.... My deductions dropped about 15% - blame the fact you live in California and that until this year you could claim both income and sales tax paid to the state - starting this year you could only claim one of the two. The tax breaks went to dividends, interest and capital gains while pseudo tax increases (fewer available deductions) went to anyone still primarily relying on an income. TRO
