A North Carolina high school teacher is being investigated by the Secret Service after allegedly telling a classroom of students that Vice President Mike Pence “should be shot in the head,” according to reports.
The unidentified female teacher allegedly made the remarks at Cuthbertson High School in Waxhaw, N.C., the same week Pence was visiting the area to campaign for U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop, Charlotte’s FOX 46 reported.

The so called community: Chicago police say a man believed to be the suspect in the shooting and wounding of an officer has been shot and captured. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi (goo-lee-EHL'-mee) tweeted Saturday that officers apprehended a "person of interest" believed to be 45-year-old Michael Blackman following an armed encounter with officers and a daylong manhunt. Guglielmi says the individual was shot by police and no officers were injured. Guglielmi says Blackman is suspected of shooting and wounding a police officer on Saturday morning, as well as being the bicyclist suspected of shooting a woman near downtown earlier this week. Blackman hasn't been charged in either shooting. The wounded officer, whose name hasn't been released, underwent surgery and is hospitalized in stable condition. The Milpitas City Council voted Tuesday night to honor the 44th U.S. President and rename a major roadway Barack Obama Boulevard.
The proposal passed 3-2 and Milpitas Mayor Rich Tran was among those who opposed the new name for Dixon Landing Road — mainly because the road passes through an area of the city known for its putrid stench.
The eastern end of Dixon Landing Road runs through the city's Sunnyhills Community. In 1956 it became among America's first planned racially integrated neighborhoods under Mayor and civil rights leader Ben Gross.
But when the road heads west, it passes over Interstate 880 and leads to the Newby Island Landfill, a recycling and composting plant that's consider the source of the city's notorious odors. Bay Area motorists often get wafts of the stink zipping by the Dixon Landing exit on the freeway, and Milpitas residents have complained about the stink for decades.
"Hundreds of thousands of drivers that take Interstate 880 south will pass Dixon Landing and hundreds of thousands of people are aware that this is a place with an awful odor," says Tran. "It is going to be one of the biggest embarrassments in the nation to rename this freeway exit Barack Obama Boulevard. Republicans will have a field day."
Tran says Newby Island has existed since the 1930s and has grown to the be the largest garbage dump in the Bay Area.
"It takes in a majority of the foul, obnoxious garbage from all over the Bay Area and as far as the Central Valley," Tran says. "I believe there is at least tens of millions of waste that goes to Newby Island on an annual basis."
The vote was the first step in renaming the road and Tran says in coming weeks the council will be exploring the steps and expense of the project.
Vice Mayor Karina Dominguez and Councilmen Anthony Phan and Bob Nuñez voted in favor of the name change. Mayor Rich Tran and Councilwoman Carmen Montano were opposed, according to KTVU.

The real reason why Tom Brady is popular is because, you guessed it, white supremacy.
Kyle Kusz, a kinesiology professor at the University of Rhode Island, published a book this month titled “Making American White Men Great Again: Tom Brady, Donald Trump, and the Allure of White Male Omnipotence in Post-Obama America." He theorized that Brady became popular due to the rise of “white rage and white supremacy,” according to Campus Reform.
Brady’s relationship with the media and President Trump is analyzed in the book, according to Campus Reform. The professor highlights a 2015 Under Armour commercial which depicts thousands of Tom Bradys working out and tells the audience to “Rule Yourself.” Kusz says the commercial “would not seem out of place in Leni Reifenstahl’s infamous Nazi propaganda film, ‘Triumph des willens.’”
Kusz told Campus Reform it was the specific commercial from 2015 which drove him to analyze Brady further.
“I decided to research Trump and Brady's public performances of their white masculinities and how they connect with broader debates about race and gender politics after a student in one of my classes brought the Under Armour commercial to my attention and it piqued my interest,” he said.
Kusz also hammers home the point of who Brady surrounds himself with outside football, specifically with who he takes to the Kentucky Derby with each year. He told the website that because he brings mostly white teammates with him to the event it “tells a more particular story about the racial company he chooses to keep.”
“It is a vision of Brady as a wealthy, white man who unapologetically enjoys, and has even made a habit out of, spending time with other wealthy white men who treasure time ‘with the boys’ over all others,” he said. Going to the Derby, Kusz added, “suggests his performance of white masculinity shares much in common with President Trump’s” because most of the Derby’s attendees include elite white people.
The professor, a New York native who received a doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, also cites Brady’s failure to denounce Trump and his intense diet as evidence of how his "white masculinity is repeatedly constructed."

Rapper Remy Ma got herself into some hot water this week after she made controversial comments about survivors of sexual assault.
During Monday’s episode of Revolt TV’s talk show State of the Culture, Joe Budden, Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins, Eboni K. Williams and Remy Ma sat down to talk about several topics ranging from Tekashi 6ix9ine, Dave East and even Antonio Brown; it was Remy Ma’s comments regarding the latter subject that has her facing backlash.
Brown, a former NFL wide-receiver, was recently released from his contract with the New England Patriots after a second woman leveled sexual assault allegations against him. Brown has denied those claims.
The first woman to accuse Brown, Brittany Taylor, a former trainer, filed a lawsuit against the now disgraced football star, which was a topic of discussion among the personalities on State of the Culture.
“If it was a rape, ‘first of all, why are you not going to criminal court?’” Williams, an attorney, asked of people who question rape victims. “‘Why are you not going to the police and he’s not arrested?’ This first accuser went the civil route. She filed a lawsuit, she’s asking for money, but some people feel like that’s the compensation that they want.”

The so called community:  Alaska Airlines pilots likely weren’t laughing when they recently diverted a cross-country flight, scheduled to travel from New York to Los Angeles, over a passenger who allegedly attempted to “storm the cockpit” after being told he could not use the first-class restrooms, as the coach bathrooms were full. On Thursday afternoon, Alaska Airlines flight 411 diverted to Kansas City, Mo., after a passenger identified as Jwan Curry began acting “combative” and “unruly," KCTV reports. Allegedly, Curry got upset during the flight when his request to use the first-class bathrooms was denied, according to CBS News. According to the outlet, the suspect reportedly “tried to storm the cockpit” and made a “verbal threat to do harm to the plane,” CBS correspondent Kris Van Cleave said. Alaska Airlines said that the 41-year-old man threatened the safety of the crew members and airplane, according to KCTV. |

Trump and Giuliani have been embroiled in a scandal surrounding a July 25 phone call the president had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which he asked the foreign leader to investigate his potential 2020 opponent Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.
The president also suggested that Zelensky work with Giuliani, who has been operating his own investigation into the matter, and Attorney General William Barr.

Police in California are investigating at least two cases of people posing as Chinese police driving cars with markings of the Communist Party of China's People's Armed Police (PAP).
California Highway Patrol spokesman Florentino Olivera said an Asian man was arrested Sept. 10 after reports he was impersonating a PAP officer while driving a black Audi A4 with PAP markings and a Chinese national symbol.
Photos of the car were posted on the CHP Facebook page with notice that police responded to several complaints regarding a male Asian driver impersonating a PAP officer.
"The driver was arrested and charged with impersonating a peace officer and for forging/possessing a fraudulent public seal," the notice said.
Police are looking for a second white vehicle also reported to bear PAP markings in the same area of Irvine, Calif. The town's population is 42 percent Asian American, and many residents are Chinese American.
