So the Devils fleeced the Oilers for Hall and paid it forward by getting fleeced by the Coyotes?

So the Devils fleeced the Oilers for Hall and paid it forward by getting fleeced by the Coyotes? I think the Devils' haul is worth more than Adam Larsson.

Hey John96...wondering what your opinion is of the Caps John Carlson’s defensive abilities. I’ve been watching a lot if Caps and Hurricanes games since moving out if Cali and I’m really impressed with him overall. Its obvious he’s an offensive powerhouse and to me he also looks very stable in the D zone...unlike the Sharks “offensive” defenseman.

The Chicago Blackhawks and assistant coach Marc Crawford have released the following statements:
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS:
The Chicago Blackhawks, and independent legal counsel, conducted a thorough review of assistant coach Marc Crawford in response to allegations of misconduct in previous coaching positions. During this process, we engaged with many of Marc's former players, colleagues, and executive management.
We do not condone his previous behavior. Through our review, we confirmed that Marc proactively sought professional counseling to work to improve and become a better communicator, person and coach. We learned that Marc began counseling in 2010 and he has continued therapy on a regular basis since. We believe that Marc has learned from his past actions and has committed to striving to reform himself and evolve personally and professionally over the last decade. We have experienced no incidents during Marc's coaching tenure with the Chicago Blackhawks.
We have determined that Marc will remain suspended from team activities until January 2, 2020, at which time he will resume his assistant coaching duties, subject to his continued compliance with his contractual obligations and team expectations. In addition, he will continue with his counseling moving forward. We will have no further comment.
ASSISTANT COACH MARC CRAWFORD:
Thank you for the opportunity to share my comments. It was important for me to respect the process required by the Chicago Blackhawks and the ongoing, important discussions being had by players and the National Hockey League. This is why I am sharing my thoughts at this time.
Recently, allegations have resurfaced about my conduct earlier in my coaching career. Players like Sean Avery, Harold Druken, Patrick O'Sullivan and Brent Sopel have had the strength to publicly come forward and I am deeply sorry for hurting them. I offer my sincere apologies for my past behavior.
I got into coaching to help people, and to think that my actions in any way caused harm to even one player fills me with tremendous regret and disappointment in myself. I used unacceptable language and conduct toward players in hopes of motivating them, and, sometimes went too far. As I deeply regret this behavior, I have worked hard over the last decade to improve both myself and my coaching style.
I have made sincere efforts to address my inappropriate conduct with the individuals involved as well as the team at large. I have regularly engaged in counseling over the last decade where I have faced how traumatic my behavior was towards others. I learned new ways of expressing and managing my emotions. I take full responsibility for my actions. Moving forward, I will continue to improve myself, to listen to those that I may have hurt, and learn from their experiences. My goal is to approach all players, past and present, with empathy and understanding. My hope, as a coach and a person, is to create environments of dignity and respect.
I sincerely want to help make our game better for everyone. I want to encourage anyone who may have been impacted by me to reach out so that we may continue this dialogue. There is an important discussion happening in hockey right now. I am and will continue to be a part of the solution moving forward. These conversations will set the course for future generations. I commit to being sensitive to the process, and most of all, listening to individual perspectives and feelings.

via Nick Cotsonika tweets,
Hall said it's been hard over the last few days, but it's part of the business. Missing the first game was fine, but after that, you start to think. Was eager to get moved. Arizona is a great spot for me. Looks like he'll be playing tomorrow.
Hall said he feels healthy and was confident he could help any team he was going to join. "They've had a great year so far. I want to contribute to that as much as I can."
Hall said he's not here to guarantee the playoffs in Arizona, but the Coyotes are in first place. He's coming in to help. He doesn't know what his role will be and doesn't care. Just excited to join a team that's winning.
Asked about his contract, Hall said he has been open-minded with everything this year. Talking to Chayka, that's something they can discuss. Both sides are comfortable with playing and letting that sort itself out.
There is more from Hall in Cotsonika's recent Twitter feed.

I remember years ago we had a thread where everyone listed the true #1 defensemen in the league. The real elite. The real difference makers. I had him on my list then and he has by no means taken a step back. This year is probably an anomaly production wise; his numbers are Paul Coffey-ish but he’s always been a guy who is net positive at both ends of the rink. As with every guy with size you probably wish he was more physical but his game is intelligence and skating. He can close gaps and check tighter than most and he covers a lot of ice. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Capitals and by far Carlson has been one of the more overlooked players in the league.

Taylor Hall, now wearing #91, is excited to join the Arizona Coyotes... and maybe took a couple of backhanded shots at the Devils on the way out, from Alexander Kinkopf.
“I’m joining a team with some young studs, a lot of really good defencemen, and two goalies that have played amazing this year. Those are what you really need in a contender, and that’s what it looks like the Coyotes are."

This dude could sing. I always enjoyed it when he would sing the anthem(s). I remember members of the Habs liked his part singing Oh, Canada in French. RIP!

Where's the explanation why the cross-check on Farabee wasn't called?

I read a rumor that DW was in on the Hall trade, but honestly without a 1st or 2nd rounder to send the other way, just no way to compete with what AZ sent. Unless he gave up the likes of Meier.

If Taylor Hall is so great, why does he keep getting traded? Second franchise now to decide not to invest in Hall long-term. #lockerroomcancervibes

Because it's a two minute minor and refs miss those all the time.

I know a D man hasn’t won the Hart Trophy in a long time...but if he keeps up this pace he might have a shot. I agree with the intelligence comment...always seems like he’s in a good position. The Caps are really fun to watch these days. Seems they do everything well and can play a tough game also.

The Sharks pay Karlsson and Burns about $11.5/12 million and $10 million...Carlson contract is a bargain for the Caps when compared to those numbers.

But the NHL should've said: "The cross-check on Farabee was a minor penalty which should've been called, and the whole sequence avoided." Don't disagree with that but it is the same argument people use to defend Bertuzzi. If Farabee wants to chop Lowry (I think) on the back of the leg, fight, or crosscheck him back, sure by all means. Eye-for-eye. Got no problem with guys defending themselves that way. I’ll never take issue with that. Taking a run at a guy who doesn’t have the puck isn’t defending yourself, it’s a predatory hit and an egregious breaking of the rules that resulted in serious injury. That’s not eye-for-eye. Also I wonder if Farabee is getting a reputation and the NHL is trying to get ahead of it. Picked a fight with Pageau and then went after Foligno which didn’t end well for him, now this.
